No. You can use disposable alkaline or lithium batteries, or rechargeable NiMH batteries, but AFAIK there are no rechargeable Li-ion batteries in that size.

    rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) are far better than alkaline - and here's a tip . . .

When you get the message "change the batteries", it doesn't necessarily mean that the batteries are weak. Often the message will go away if you just remove the batteries and wipe clean the contacts on them, as well as in the camera. Pretty odd but it works every time, if the batteries are still good. MP3 players and digital cameras are very hard on batteries so don't even think of using anything less than an alkaline battery, , ,

How do I open the card/battery door on my Powershot A570 Camera?

My canon camera does the same thing. Engage the button and use your fingernail to wedge between the battery door and the camera body. This should cause the door to slide open.

Canon Powershot A570 keeps showing change the batteries

I had the same problem. Here's the solution. Go into menu settings, then over to tools, select reset all at the bottom of options list. You may have to re-enter the date and time. This solved the low battery problem for me. I hope this helps.

Hi I have just put brand new batteries in my canon powershot A560 and having taken approx 4 or 5 photos it is now telling me that my batteries need changing. The low battery symbol is also on alot of the...

Make sure that you use the correct type of batteries some cameras prefer Alkaline or Zinc Carbon both at v1.5 some only can take 3 rechargeable Nickel Cadmium (Nicad) Cells at 1.3V (3x1.5v= 3.9V) or one Lithium Ion at 3.6V

Be careful if you put a 1.3V NiCad Rechargeable in a camera that was designed for 1.5 Alkaline it can damage the camera and you may experience similar problems to that you have now.

Always check that you are using the recommended batteries, this is why most manufactures supply there own Lithium Ion 3.6V rechargeable K type cells to avoid this type of problem.

Cannon A590 "Change the batteries" after replacing new batteries

Off-the-shelf NiMH rechargeable batteries, and the special lithium nonrechargeablebatteries sold as esepcially good for camera use, don't have enough voltage output for this camera. Try using regular alkaline batteries or the rechargeables sold by the manufacturer.

Buying a Camara

Hey Dussan,
Three camera's that might work for you are the Nikon P80, Panasonic DMC-FZ50K, and the Sony DSC-H50. All three of theses camera's have a 12x optical zoom and up, they are all 9 mega pixel and up, they all have movie mode, they all use lithium-ion batteries, and they are all around the same price as the Canon. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
