Whirlpool Cabrio 7.0 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Plus Electric Dryer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Feb 20, 2011

My whirlpool cabrio front load dryer will power on but when you press start it doesn't. All it will do is light up under "sensing" but never moves on to actually dry the clothes. I have checked the breakers as well as unplugged and plugged the dryer back in. No error code pops up...just the timer. Any ideas?

Underneath the lint trap is a sensor, it will need to be cleaned. Good luck Tim

SOURCE: my dryer dries for a short period time and senses

no. what you are getting is an over heat sense and is shutting the unit down this is a safety type of thermostat and will shut down the heating cycle prematurely as it will with a clogged vent or lint filter

SOURCE: whirlpool duet dryer - when using the settings

Easy fix: Look inside the drum below where the filter goes in. You will see two metal strips. They sense the wetness. Now get this: the dryer sheets rub against them and a thin wax buildup on them prevents the controls from properly determining wetness. The control has no clue the clothes are still damp and thinks everything is kosher; so it advances to the end. Solution. Clean the stuff off of the sensors so that they can sense the true wetness once again.

Turn on power, the lights come on but when you press start nothing happens just a click sound.

Click sound at power button and start button should get it going. If not then Dryer drum is not turning.

Whirlpool Cabrio dryer won't start - the sensing light stays on

An EXTREMELY helpful technical guide is folded inside the console housing.
WARNING: It is for appliance techs, DO NOT do the voltage/resistance checks if you are not well-versed in troubleshooting appliances! BUT, it does include putting the dryer in diagnostics mode and checking the sensors.

Another Whirlpool Cabrio Sensing issue

Hi-- none of the solutions I've read here are working. Same problem, dryer not starting, it says "Sensing..." and then "Wet" and does nothing. It worked fine on the last load, except I noticed it read 11 minutes for a very, very long time (I think it got stuck). New load? "Sensing..." etc.
