what is a speed bake switch? and where is it located and what do you give up if diconnected?

  • twilight_cyn May 08, 2009

Not only do I have an F11 error message, but the oven is locked and I can't open the door to get my SOMEWHAT WARM raw chicken out. I hold the clear/off button down to unlock the door like book says for 3 seconds, then hold it longer because nothing happens, and then it says "F 11"

I can't even set the time on it. I've tried shutting it off at the breaker and waiting, then turning it back on, but nothing. I don't have "speed bake" on my oven model.

  • smead4 May 17, 2009

Hi ours is similar except we have a double convection oven and no speed bake button. For what it's worth, it seems like the "conv bake" button is ultra sensitive especially when the oven is hot. Have to pop breaker until it cools down otherwise F11 stays along with beeping and won't go away. Any ideas?

Unbelievable. Just pulling the panels apart fixed the problem on my oven. Peter, you are the man.

My range started the beeping and F11 failure today and the tec assisted my by having me to tkurn flick off the breaker for 2 mins. and then flick the breaker back on. The beeping persisted so I called the repairman which will come out next week. Well after a couple of mins. more, the beeping stopped.

F11 is definitely a key stuck failure and I didn't require any parts to fix this.
The cause of the problem is an over abundant use of double sided tape at the factory. I suspect that either heat or continued use of certain buttons causes the glue to weep into the button/contact pad causing the button to stick to the contact. On powering up our range showed PF and if you waited 10-15 secs without touching any keys F11 would display and and there was continuous beeping. I verified this was the case by removing the upper rear panel of the stove and disconnecting the keypad connector from the upper left of the lockout board. Then on powering up our range simply sat there showing PF. Of course you can't get past this with the keyboard disconnected anyway.
The fix--- to make repair easier I removed the glass panel to which the keypad is stuck from the range. Pull off the burner knobs and you will find plastic nuts holding the glass panel to the metal housing. Remove the plastic nuts (make sure you let the keyboard connector go first by pulling the connector lock -small tabs on either side of the keyboard ribbon - towards you about 1/8". The ribbon cable will then slide right out.) Use a razor blade to gently work your way around the plastic trim bezel and remove the bezel. The keypad actually consists of three plastic sheets sandwiched together. You only need to remove the top 2 layers. Layer 1 is the printed keypad and layer 2 is the contact pad.
You have to be careful in all this or you may crease or damage a panel. I started the edge with a razor blade and then stuck in the edge of a spatula. The idea is not to slide the spatula in but rather to insert it a small amount and lift. Slide it in a little more and lift. Just have a little patience and don't simply try and slide the spatula in or you may scrape the keypad and/or contact pad. While I suppose the more AR of us would then have to clean all the double sided tape off I simply cleaned up the keypads and matching contact pads. I stuck the whole thing back together and reattached the keyboard ribbon cable (hold it in place while pushing in the cable lock mentioned above. If you aren't too squeamish you can test the keypad while you have everything apart as follows: Connect the contact pad (this is the part with the ribbon cable attached) to the lockout board. Power up the stove. At PF touch one of the keypads to the stop/cancel contact pad. The PF should be cleared and you should be able to operate the oven by touching one of the keypads to appropriate contact pads.

Just so you know we haven't had a problem since.

  • Anonymous Feb 12, 2013

Well, we followed your path, which was very helpful, but we have not solved our F11 problem. yet. We have the problem on a slide in model with the controls out front. We were able to expose the Electronic Oven Contro and disconnect the ribbon connectors per your instructions. When powered up, there was no error message and we were able to work all the burners. Of course nothing that ran from the other controls would work, because of the disconnected ribbons. We then very carefully removed the silver covering on the control panel, uncovering the keypad base and we peeled back the flexible layer underneath the keypad. We suspected the problem was with the Pizza button, as the pizza light was on when we tested and the pizza button was the only one on the pad that, when pushed, would not generate a beep. Hanving separated the keypad from the base, therefore being assured that no buttons were contacted, and powered up the beast. Mush to our dismay, the F11 error still occured. The question nowis, does this eliminate the keypad as a culprit and implicate the electronic overn controller as the part needing replacement?

I also had the F11 error. We had a pot of stock boiling for a while, and steam from under the lid was shooting straight at the keypad. I peeled the keypad pieces apart slowly by using a Q-tip soaked in rubbing alcohol. I then cleaned the pieces with rubbing alcohol. There was enough tackiness left to hold everything together once cleaned. It's working so far! Thanks for the awesome tip!

  • Thomas Treloar
    Thomas Treloar Jan 05, 2017

Ron, we had exactly the same issue with a steaming pot. I followed the above directions and it all worked perfectly ... except... I am a little careless with the razor blade and now the light and the lock buttons (side-by-side) do not work when I hit them. Their wires were close to the edge and it looks like I cut through them. I guess if I could have picked any buttons to mess up, those are the ones I would have chosen. Every button controlling the oven/clock/timers are working perfectly.

THANK YOU menkhor & Ron Allen! We just bought a used stove and thought we got scammed out of our money because it was doing the F11 error and wouldn't stop beeping. You saved us from having to pay even more money for someone to come repair it and replace the keyboard.

We peeled apart the layers of the plastic on the keypad and cleaned both layers with rubbing alcohol until all the adhesive residue was gone. So far all the buttons are working and it hasn't given us any errors! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!

THANK YOU Menkhor!!! I followed your cleaning instructions and all appears well. My model must be different because I had to access the panel from the rear of the stove. (there are u-tube videos showing how to safely remove and replace).I spent 30 minutes on the actual fix and at least 30 minutes researching the issue which led me to Menkhors instructions. Saved our family budget in a big way as we live in a remote location. Much Appreciated!

Peter is right. If you dont want to try ad bypass the switch you can replace the keypad (turn the power off first) and the keypad should run about $30. The EOC or ERC (electronic oven control) runs about $160. His idea is easiest and least expensive.

I had the same exact issue, f11 error code on a frigidaire range oven. Almost ordered a $160 EOC but I tried the cleaning option first. I cleaned the contacts on the EOC after removing the key pad and voila! It worked! The problem could be the keypad getting stuck on the EOC because of the glue. Personally I think just removing the keypad and putting it back may solve the problem.

I have a similar issue, with some differences. All of my contact buttons appear to not be stuck, but I cleaned them anyway, as well as the plastic cover that actually presses the buttons on the electronic board.

Now when I plug the range back in, the door locked light flashes while the locking mechanism engages. Then I get a F90 code, which indicates a problem with the door locking. I press clear, and this clears the F90 code, only to bring back that pesky F11 code again.

I am hoping that there is something else I can do, without having to replace the EOC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

After a power outage, what is causing my Frigidaire stove to beep and display an F11 code?

Thank you for your inquiry, Katherine!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire range is displaying an error code of "F11". An "F11" error code stands for a shorted keypad I would recommend performing a reset on your range. You can do that by flipping off the household circuit breaker for at least ten minutes. If that does not correct your issue it could be a possible problem with your EOC (Electronic Oven Control) or wiring harness. Hopefully this information is helpful for you. -Matt

The electric stove I have is beeping f11 how do I stop it from beeping

I appreciate your inquiry, friend!

I see that you are having a difficult time with your Frigidaire range displaying an "F11" error code. That error code stands for a shorted keypad and I would recommend performing a reset on your range. You can do that by flipping the household circuit breaker off for roughly ten minutes. If you restore power and continue to receive an "F11" code you may need to replace the EOC (Electronic Control Panel) this is not a simple DIY job. I would recommend contacting a professional technician for proper disassembly and repairs to be completed. I hope this is helpful information. -Matt

How to fix frigidaire wall oven beeping error message f11

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire wall oven is beeping and showing an F11 error code. Typically an F11 error code states that there is a shorted key, or a button has been detected as pressed for a long time. I suggest hard resetting your appliance, by cutting the power at your homes circuit breaker for 3-5 minutes. While you are resetting your oven, make sure to wipe down the control panel. The panel is very sensitive and could be detecting something that has splashed or spilled onto it, even dust. When you bring power back to your appliance you will need to start by setting the clock. Turn your oven on any cycle at any temperature. If you are still receiving an F11 error code, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

How to disconnect beeping hotpoint stove digital timer/clock?

Good Afternoon Patti,

I understand that your Hotpoint stove digital timer/clock is beeping and you are wondering how to disconnect it. I suggest resetting your stove by either unplugging it or disconnecting the power at your home's circuit breaker for 3-5 minutes. When power is restored, if your stove is still beeping, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine what the cause of the beeping is. They will also be able to assist with repairs, if needed. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I get a F11 code with beeping noise and the oven controls won't work? what can i do?

Hi Ken Kazemi - Typically error code F11 indicates a shorted keypad. Try resetting the range by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. This usually will clear most false error codes. Wait approximately ten minutes and if it proves to be ineffective contact a professional to move forward accurately. Most likely the EOC on the range will need replacing.

Have a magic chef oven, f1 display after self cleaning, stove top works fine, any thoughts

F-1 is a fault code.

Disconnect the power plug or turn range power off at circuit breaker. Wait a couple of minutes, then plug the range in or flip the range circuit breaker to ON.

Oven control beeps & displays any F  code error (for example
F11) - Electronic control has detected a fault condition. Press
CLEAR/OFF to clear the display & stop beeping. Reprogram
oven. If fault recurs, record fault number. Press CLEAR/OFF
contact an authorized service agent.
