Tips: How to burn AVI files (torrent/digital Camera videos) to DVD on Windows 7

Do you like to shot videos with your favorite digital camera to capture and keep every happy moment in your life? And do you never miss any movies which can be free downloaded from torrent sites, such as Pirate Bay, Vuze, etc. to fully enjoy digital life? That's wonderful digital experience, but to keep these movies and life memory forever is suffering, isn't it? 'Cause either your digital camera's memory or your PC hardware has a limit, so many digital lovers keep asking how to burn digital Camera/torrent files to DVD:

Q1: My torrent downloads are always in the .avi format. I would like to play these movies in a regular DVD player, but I don't know how to burn the DVD on my computer (running on Windows 7).
Q2: I've shot the movie myself using a camera, it is a two hour long .avi file. All I want is to be able to shove it in the DVD player (in the living room) and for it to automatically play.

A: That's true, most videos shot by digital camera, and most free downloaded movies from torrent are in AVI formats. A good and easy way to keep these videos and movies forever is to burn AVI files to DVD which makes easier for you to watch these videos on your DVD player without any hitch. That's easy to finish the whole task, first of all, let's look at all the things you will need to burn AVI movies to a DVD.

1. Things You'll Need to burn AVI files to DVD AVI to DVD Burner software
A black DVD disc

Before making a purchase decision, you can get recommendations from professionals, friends, etc. And the most import thing is to get a free trail by yourself. In fact, I have tried a lot of such software, but for the sake of simplicity and stability, I will present you such a conversion tool which works well to convert AVI format to DVD on windows 7.

Select your AVI files, then hit "Burn DVD" button at the bottom of the interface, and then check "Next", you can select DVD menu from built-in "Menu Template", and you can set background music and picture for your DVD menu by checking the related option to customize your DVD menu. Here I set the background picture by adding a picture from your PC. If you want to preview your DVD movies, you can click "Play" to make a preview.

Why doesn't my recorded dvd-r movies play on my magnavox dvd player

Does your DVD player support that version of DVD disk? Not all players will handle DVD-R. Check the manual for compatibility.
Try recording to DVD+R then see if your player will play it.
Also, in what format (.avi, .flv, .mov, etc.) was the item recorded and is your player able to handle that format? Again, check the manual for compatibility.

Hello, I have a Magnavox DVD Recorder mwr10d6. I want to burn some movies to play in it. What format of CD's do I need and does it matter if it's avi, mpg, mov, mp4 or not. What are these anyway? Thanks!

avi, mpg, mov, mp4, these are all video files. you can use almost any cd-r band. dvd movies require use of dvd-r disks. some dvd-r disks are not playable in all players.

BurnRdeluxe. just installed, how do i burn a dvd

if you want to burn a movie in a stand alone dvd player you need to convert the avi to dvd .vob format first.

If your dvd can play divx along with vob (dvd) format then just burn the avi using the data dvd function you maybe able to put 3 or 4 movies on a 4 gig dvd. This will not work on a stand alone dvd player.

Can't play divx or avi

Thats because Divx or AVI is not a recognized format for a DVD Player. If you are burning a disc you need a software that can create a DVD Format Disc from an AVI as all DivX are AVIs. I reccomend Ulead DVD Workshop 2:

I have wasted 4 hours with 1 of your so called (experts) i want answers not excuses

Don't know if I can help or not, but this what I do.
I've downloaded the DIVx player and converter software (free) to my computer. I can download mpeg, avi movies, etc, and convert them to DIVx format if I need to. The DIVx player has a 'burn' feature that is fast and burns them in a DIVx format. My old DVD Recorder will not play DIVx format but my 'cheap' Phillips will. I just keep it hooked up to my old DVD recorder through the front RCA input jacks. When I want to play a DIVx movie and watch it on the TV, I use the cheap Phillips player. I have to change the input on my old DVD Recorder to 'Front Input. I usually record the movie on a DVD R in my DVD Recorder while I'm watching it if I want to keep a copy to play later on the DVD Recorder. Most of the time, I burn the movies to RW DVD and erase them later.

I don't remember the web site for the DIVx players and converters, but you should be able to find it with a search.

Hope this helps.
