chose the operating system. under utilities you will find atk hotkey drivers. download and install them.

The Fn function to change the bright etc is driven by the software called Hotkey software, please download the software from the Asus website and make sure you know the type of your laptop.

Hello there. Follow my steps:

1. Go to support.asus.com
2. Select "Download" (if you don't see a "Download" button due to being in another language, select the last item from the main menu and select "English)
3. Find your laptop model using the wizard
4. Select your operating system (to determine whether if it's a 32bit/64bit, go to your start menu > right click on "Computer" for Windows Vista/7 or "My computer" for Windows XP and look for a text which says "XX bit operating system)
5. Go to the "ATK" tree
6. Download the "ATK Hotkey Utility" thingy and install it.

I solved my problem by manually starting the program C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ATK Package\ATK Hotkey\HControl.exe

It seems it should start automatically, but it doesn't... I added to the startup folder so I don't have to do it manually every time.

Solved. It has to do with a Microsoft update that is done through auto-updates. It messes with the hotkey drivers

Solution:

You must still have your eSupport Folder that is on your C root drive. At very least have backed it up on DVD.

Launch the install and reinstall the ATK package. That's the hotkey driver reinstall. Actually I reinstalled all the drivers just in case but I think I narrowed it down the the above package.

Reboot and you should have a backlit keyboard.

i hv bought the same laptop ..earlier i was facing this problem at day time , it consumes battery.but at night it does excellent work.
Now talk abt ur problem...
1. to on/off it use "Fn" key given near window key(near left control)
2.use Fn+F4 key to dim or off light
as u can use Fn+F5 key
3. to perminant off
go to RUN+MSCONFIG+STARTUP
and disable ATK HOTKEY driver..
NOw i have problem with my laptop(asus UX50V)..
it came with VISTA but i installed WIN7 ultimate.
now i can't open my webcam.. I dont have DRIVER for it..
if u kno help me where should i download driver for it...
