Over exposure My camera was working great until about 2 months ago when I tried taking pictures outside and they were over exposed. I checked my settings and they were normal ( always keep it on automatic); however, I even changed them yet my pictures outside or inside (in bright light) are all over exposed. What could be the cause of this problem? Thanks!

    I got the same problem with my Ixus 65.
    After a It gets easily overexposed in bright light, strange horizontal stripes but these problems all dissapere in video mode.

    Tried resetting it and alot of different settings but at no luck.

    Would be lovely with an explenation for this problem.

    JD Force, same thing - I can take movies but all outside pics are overexposed. Strange.

    I have the same problem. At first, I thought it was the flash. I've had this camera for 3 years and have loved it until recently.

Hey - have the same problem. All my still pictures are coming out overexposed, no matter what setting I use. Tried resetting, tried new battery, tried new memory card, tried different exposure settings. Nothing fixed it or affected it. However, my movie exposure works great so I can take movies just fine. Are you able to take movies with no overexposure?

Camera exilim ex-s600 will not take pictures outside,pictures turning out white,yet will take pictures inside ok.is this a worthwhile repair
This seems to be a software problem with your camera. Your camera should, if on AUTO mode, automatically expose your photo accurately. Try half pressing the shutter button (used to take pictures) while outside to adjust focus and exposure, then press the button fully to take picture. If your camera cannot adjust to take a properly exposed picture (not bright white), then it is possible that the shutter speed is stuck on a too high speed, outside daytime shutter speed should be fast (1/1000 sec). Or if your shutter speed adjust accurately, it could be the aperture if the aperture is not small enough for daylight shooting. This is likely a software problem. Try adjusting your settings manually and see if the picture turns out!

Most cameras have a form of exposure compensation. This allows for you to still use automatic modes, but tell the camera to over-expose it (make it brighter) or under-expose it (make it darker) by a bit. Check your settings, optimally you should leave the exposure compensation at 0 (neither over or under exposed).

Pentax SF10 Camera -- double exposure
If you press the film release button like you are going to rewind exposed film you may be able to activate the film advance lever to cock the camera so you can take another picture, and the film should stay on the first exposure allowing you to re - expose it. I would underexpose each image 1 F stop because.you are exposing the same film twice. Double exposures are always an iffy proposition and anything can happen. After the second exposure cocking the film advance should allow the film to advance once again. You might test this on the final pictures on a roll in case the camera won't start advancing the film after you try it. This way you won't blow a whole roll worth of pictures testing it.

Forget how to take double pictures.
Hey xplaur,
To take a multiexposure photograph you should first expose the film, and then push the multiexposure button which is on the front of the camera on the top left when you are looking at the front of the camera. After you press this button advance the winding lever to set the shutter, and since the multiexposure button was pressed this shouldn't wind the film to the next frame. Now take your second exposure, and if you want to make another exposure on the same frame repeat the process. Keep in mind that every time you expose a single frame after the initial exposure you will be doubling the exposure on the frame. I usually under expose each exposure by one third on a double exposed frame. If you do more than two exposures I would underexpose each exposure by even more. Multi exposures are fun but tricky, and I would suggest you experiment and have fun with it. I will also say that black and white film is much more controllable and forgiving when it comes to this than color film. I hope this helps!

White lines when you take photos in light, but perfect in the dark
The problem lies in you camera's CCD unit which is located on the back of the lens held on be 3 small screws it could also be a setting in the camera's menu try going into the menu and reseting the camera to default it works some times if that does not work than you need the ccd replaced pretty easy fix I fixed 1 with the same problem about two weeks ago for someone it happens I hope this helps you out.

Underexposed, grainy images with a light stripe running down the center
Sounds like your shutter curtain is malfunctioning. Did you bump the curtain when u loaded film & bed it... Take a close look to see if it is binding. This is a very fragile area to monkey with & should be done by a qualified repairman
