I have a 2000 eclipse that has the green car with a key flashing and car will not start.It has the original chip and a new key.I took the chip out of the old key and placed it near the ignition switch....

Car shape with key symbol inside it. It is part of the anti-theft/immobilizer system that all eclipse have. For car's with alarm, it serves as an indicator that the car alarm has been armed. If it blinks, it usually mean that there is a problem with the key.

Yes that would likely do it with the aftermarket key.use original key.that will help.

if that has a chipped key for the security system,try another key,that will let you know if its a bad key or the reader is screwing up.

2000 Corolla won't start.

See, the starter gets power from the battery it also gets power from the ignition switch. When you turn the key the solenoid closes and supplies power to the starter motor. So if you are hearing a click the solenoid is getting getting a signal from the ignition switch. Check for power from the solenoid to the starter motor. If it lights up that means power is being transferred to the motor and the motor is either bad if it doesn't turn the engine or the engine is locked up.

I have a 2000 mitsubishi galant i just had the valves replaced along with timing belt and water pump. the car turns over but wont start. everytime i try to start it i get a green car with a key flashing...

Please re check the valve timing is correct . Even if it is one tooth out the engine won't start

A green key shaped light is flashing on the dashboard. What does it mean?

The green key flashing means that the key you are use is not registered to the car. If you just cut a new key for your car(it has to be a honda key, not a walmat key) your honda dealer will have to program it to your car. If it's a old key, maybe the chip in the key might be bad, time for a new key. good luck.

The green key means that the immobilizer that is built into the ignition switch is not reading the key properly try switching keys as far as the car not turning over this green light has nothing to do with it but if the car is turning over and not starting it means that the immob. is not reading the key again try switching keys if this doesnt work then the key or keys have to be reprogramed at a honda dealer if you have to do this make sure you take all of the keys to that car
