Hi, if i am using rigth now, the Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5200 is support by my DSL operator ( ISP ) internet services provider , can i purchased the SpeedStream 5270 , and will work ? will be compatible ? please and also is the 5270 better or 5200 is better ? thank you

1: get a firmware update from your internet service provider if does'nt work.. get the modem replaced from ISP

Contact AT&T DSL support for help in getting your network to work. And do not believe them if they tell you your modem is no good. They want to shut down their DSL service and will go to any length, lying included, to get people to change over to their fiber optic system.

You may be able to use these with "standard" DSL, which generally does require PPPoe (a username and password, basically). But you'd certainly need to have an ISP providing DSL service, the correct wiring drop to the device, and your DSL provider would need to support this particular device on their network.

These are not routers, per se, they are really just DSL modems.

First thing:
The computer that you're using for these services needs to have a static IP address configured in your private network and not a DHCP address assigned by the router.

Secondly thing:
Depending on your security policies (computer firewall and/or router), you will need to sure that the settings from your router and/or your PC firewall are not blocking the ports that you need to connect for these services.

First, I would make sure you are using the right type of patch cable to connect to your cable/dsl modem. If this does not work, then you may have a problem with the device itself. At that point, call your Internet Service Provider, as they may be able to provide you with a replacement. If you did not receive this device from an ISP, then you will have to contact the manufacturer directly.
