Black line across top of page - I know there's an easy fix - just don't remember what tech told me

test the monitor on 2 PC, see if monitor fails.
easy no? simple test.
reset the monitor. in mon OSD menu , click reset

also do not exceed the monitors resolution MAX sped.

as you can see it does not do 1080p 1080p (1920×1080) as most folks want.(movies etc) , no PC told, no OS told so can't go deeper.

If this line does not go all the way across the screen then I will bet you this is an easy fix. Press the menu button on the remote control. The menu will hopefully show up over-top the black. Search your menu for the closed caption setting (usually under audio settings menu) and turn closed caption OFF. Hopefully this fixes your issue. Cheers.

NO, I DID NOT GET IT FIXED. YOU TOLD ME TO SCAN SOMETHING TO THE PC, WHICH I DID. SENT PAGE TO MICROSOFT WORD AND THE BLACK LINE WAS STILL THERE. I BELIEVE MY SOLUTION IS TO JUNK THIS THING AND BUY ANOTHER.

there is probably something on a drum, fuser roller, transfer roller, or primary roller. usually an easy fix for a copier tech, probably not for someone with no experience.

The vertical circuit is not pulling the top of the picture to the top of the screen (CRT) correctly. Its possible you have a loose wire or device ( after moving ) . If you have vertical agustments on the back , you may be able to adjust the picture taller; if the picture becomes stretched ( non - linear ) then you definately have tv tech only problems. At that point I'd really think twice about a repair and consider a new DTV or HDTV set. If the unit was damaged by a mover , then you may have a claim against them .

If you were a tech then yes it's an easy fix if not then I can try to tell you what it may be: the cleaning blades sometime cause louding squeeling noise and you say it causing all black pages which the cleaning blade is responsible for keeping the drum clean. when you say black do you mean totslly black as in you can't see anything printed over/under the black or solid black without an image. Please advise

NYGirl, the convergence circuit is failing, The IC`s will have to be replaced and all precision resistors will have to be checked, I don`t know who told you this was easy to do but I can assure you it is NOT an easy fix, If you have the service manual, access to a supply house that sells good quality IC`s ( I can give you that number if you think you can do this) a working knowledge of soldering and un-soldering and a good quality voltmeter you can remove the board and do this job, approximate repair time by a qualified tv tech is 2 hours, if not I strongly suggest you call a tv tech, questions? e-mail me back, BMW Rider

This is a very easy fix. Your cable box is not grounded correctly. To fix this you need a AC Plug adapter. This will change your TV ac plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire. This may sound funny, but trust me on this. I have fix a lot of TV in NY doing just this.

Is it sort of rolling almost.
If so you have a few bad capacitors in the power supply that need to be replaced.
If you dare to venture inside you should see 1 or more buldging caps. (bowing upwards on the top)
If these start to fail, then they will interupt the correct flow of power and cause this problem with your panel.
Easy to fix if you are electronically minded, if not, take it to your local TV tech and it shouln't cost that much to have repaired.
Remember, inside these monitors is high voltage that can kill, even if it's not plugged in.
