A black screen appeared on my TV. I know it has something to do with programing it using the remote control for the Insignia converter box, but I can not figure it out. can somebody help please? Thanks in advance

The digital to analog converters did not exist when the TV was built and the remote programmed. Thus you will have more luck programming the converter box's remote to control the TV. (At least with my converter box, the included remote could only turn on and off the TV. It would only change channels on the converter.)

Most universal remotes only have codes for devices released 6 months or more before the TV was programmed. So a new universal remote will probably control both the TV and the converter box. (Program the converter box using a code for LG or Zenith set top boxes if Insignia isn't listed. LG makes Insignia video products for Best Buy.) The remotes that are programmable by a USB connection to a computer are the fastest to set up.

Try these steps: 1. Turn on your TV and change it to channel 3 or 4. 2. Press the power button on your Insignia Remote control. The converter light will be turn on in stand by mode (the red light appears). Press the power button again, the blue light will be on. 3. On your Insignia remote control, press the menu button. 4. A menu items appear, navigate to the autoscan item to scan channel.

Follows steps below to program your Insignia Converter Box:
1. Turn on your TV using your TV remote control and change its channel to 3 or 4.

2. Turn on the convert box; the blue light on the converter box is on. If you press the power button again, the red light on the converter box will be on, but do Not turn it to Red!!! Your insignia's other buttons will not response if it in red light mode!!!


3. Then press the Menu button on the Insignia remote control. A wizard will appear. The wizard does not appear if your TV is not in channel 3 or 4.

4. Follow the wizard instructions to scan channels.

Now, here's an example that assumes Channel 3 is the proper tuning-station for your tv-set within your particular region: You will first tune your tv-set itself (by means of its handheld tv-remote) to Channel 3. Sounds like the remote sensors aren't working. Since you purchased them at Best Buy, Geek Squad should be able to test them for you at no charge.

The conversion date has been moved to the middle of June now by the government a few weeks ago. You have some more time to get them working.

All you have to do is use the auto tuning function. Your remote control has a menu button, you can get to the feature via the on-screen menu.

If you press the menu button while the box is on and you see no menu, change your television's input to match what the box's output is.

From GUEST: I found this solution in the manual and will perform this task again to see if I can get the tv will be re-recognized again. Give this a try, too.


Remote will not turn on or shut off the TV.
• You must program the converter box remote in order to control your TV power button.
• To program the remote control:

1. Determine if the TV is a model that can be controlled by the remote control. See "Controllable TV brands" on page 17 in the manual.
2. Turn on the TV.
3. While you press and hold TV POWER on the remote control, press CH ^ or CH v one or more times until the TV turns off. Each time you press one of these buttons, the remote control sends a manufacturer code (between 1 and 45) to the TV.
