Should work just like viewing your files on any other storage media. Click on the file and it should open with the application that created it.

If this doesn't answer your question, I don't understand it. Please clarify for me.

My pop-up suggested I open and view files using Windows Explorer which I did. This resulted in a loss of my Vsafe sign-in and I have no access to any of my files. Is there anything that can be done?

Hi suey,

If youre lucky, your files are only hidden.

In windows explorer (my computer), go to tools, then folder options. In the "view" tab;

- click 'show hidden files and folders'

unclick "hide extensions...' and 'hide protection...'

Hope this works,

Cheers,

I'm Windows XP... I can copy many files to the Verbatim. But when I try to copy a 1GB+ file, the copy craps out. I Googled and found some Microsoft problem when copying 1GB+ files to external drives, but...

The usual limit is exactly 2GB, not 1GB.
It's a limitation of the file-system used for the directory of the disk-drive, when formatted according to the 'FAT32' specifications.

So, copy all the files currently on the Verbatim to your disk-drive.
Then, "reformat" the external (not the "internal") disk-drive, using the 'NTFS' file-system. This file-system has a maximum-file-size limitation for one file that is _much_ larger than the capacity of your Verbatim.

Then, copy all the "saved" files back onto the Verbatim.

Finally, copy your "large" files onto the Verbatim.

External hard drive doesn't respond

Shut your computer down. Disconnect you external hardrive. Power up your computer again. Power up the Verbatim and then connect to a USB port. You should hear a very quiet 'ping'.

Go to My Computer, and the Verbatim should be showing as one of your drives (probably Drive D). You should be able to open it from there.

Make sure that you have a Desk Top Icon for opening the hardrive, it makes it so much easier. Hope this helps
