The thermostat is what allows the burner to cycle on and off. If you remove the temb knob, there is a small screw in the center of the knob boss. Try and adjust it to see if it helps. If not, you are looking at replacing thermostat.

Hi.

The problem can be easily given by the door safety interlock switch. This oven has a door safety switch system:

BEEN WORKING FINE. In the - ginko_61.gif
13: door switch
ginko_62.gif

The switch is tested by jumping it or by reading Ohms to see if it is opening and closing circuit by reading zero and infinity when operated.

If the switch is OK, the spark module and ignitor is second in list. Coils are unlikely to be the problem because when they fail the burner does not work at all. The flame sensor may cause the same problem, but it rarely fails. With this ovens the flame sensor is also integrated in the ignition module. If the door is OK check also wiring to flame sensor probe and ignitor.

Here diagrams.

Here parts.

Regards.

Ginko.

It can be a defective flame sensor. The sensor is integrated with the ignitor assembly. About the door switch, that should be tested by jumping it. Simple observation on the fact that turns on and off when you close and open the door is not enough to say that it is OK. If the oven works well after initial warm up, then it is unlikely the door lock.

You also say that the spark is fine. Ensure that problem is not that there is no spark. In case there is no spark then problem is igniter or spark box.

The flame sensor fails rarely. In this oven it is rather difficult to test. Check first everything else. One part that must be checked is the pressure regulator. There should be a pressure regulator at the back of the oven. See if that is responsible.

As said I do not think that the solenoid valve can be a problem. Depending on model you may have single or double one. You can test solenoid reading Ohms at contacts. If it is open (infinity), then it must be replaced. When solenoid is open the valve does never work, by the way.

How do I lite the oven pilot

If it's an older model with a true pilot light you turn on the gas at supply line valve, open oven door, remove bottom panel to access pilot and burner. Sometimes it's easier to remove broiler drawer on these models but regardless take a lighter and light pilot. Most models are electronic ignitions which if you have it probably needs replaced if it doesn't ignite the burner in under a minute or minute and 15 secs. It could also be a bad thermostat if the burner ignites within the time period described above

Pilot light issue

you cannot light the pilot on that oven manually. that oven is eletronic ignition. take off the panel under the doors, turn on the oven, and turn the thermostat to 350.
if you see sparking on both the right and left burners, you and it doesnt light, you need to see if the gas solenoid on the right side of the burner is getting power. if it is and nothing lit relace it.
if it is not, replace the ignition board

When i turn on oven all i smell is gas i cleaned with a wire brush still nothing. also is the pilot light always have to be on and can you see it when oven is off

Most gas ovens that aren't electronic ignition usually have a pilot light.
Usually one in the oven area and one for each burner. (Sometimes shared between two burners.)
These pilot lights must lit at all times...otherwise it won't light up and you'll smell gas.
Usually the pilot light is in the very back of the oven and can be seen with the broiler drawer opened.

There is a small set screw located at the pilot light assembly in the oven and also at every burner.
This allows you to adjust pilot light up or down, thereby letting you set pilot light flame to a level that doesn't get blown out by a draft...or you can turn it off completely.

If you use that set screw to turn off the pilot light gas, you'd need to strike a match to light the oven or burners everytime you needed them.

My gas was recently shut off for repairs from the gas company, now its back on and i dont know how to get my oven or stove back on

Ok you did not mention if your oven or stive had pilot lights or igniters. Given you asked the question how too turn it back on I have to assume it does not have electronic igniters. You need to light the pilot lights. There are 2 in top that are between each of the 2 burner sets. If you can not gain access to the pilot light by lifting the top of the stove up you can use a fire starter type lighter and re-light them. Sometimes they will self light if you just use a match on the burners.
As for the oven you can gain access 2 ways to the pilot light. One is to unlatch and remove the oven lower inside panel. The pilot light will be near the burner head. Just light it. The other is to remove the broiler drawer and reach way back in there to light the pilot light.

Again if you have igniter ignition all you have to do is turn on a burner or the oven. Good Luck.

Maytag gas oven doesn't heat, but oven's pilot light is on.

Get the oven checked out by a professional, if you have a gas leak you can easily blow up the entire house and you with it. I think you have a faulty gas valve based on what you wrote

Delay in oven burner to light after pilot is lit.

Usually delayed lighting on a standing pilot system is caused by a gas pathway that is dirty from spilled food or grease. If you can remove the burner assembly and clean it that will correct the problem. If there is a removable plate above it then you can remove that and get access instead of removing it. Pilot ignitions work by creating a column of gas between the pilot and the burner that is established when the burner is turned on kind of like a fuse. A small tube my be used to establish the column of gas between burner and pilot and it may get blocked with food that overflows. Sometimes the pilot is just located right next to the burner and may get partially blocked or the orifice in the burner next to the pilot may be blocked. Cleaning all this helps. Be very careful with gas. Work in a well ventilated area. Turn on gas very briefly to run an ignition test. Turn off the gas and vent it off if it fails to light in about 5 seconds. Unburned propane drops to the floor and collects. Natural gas rises. Be aware of this when you ventilate.

How to light Oven Pilot for Magic Chef stove 31000 PAW

There is a cover plate that has two screws holding it down. Inspect the pilot area and you will see a hot surface igniter sitting right next to it.. That is what lights pilot and then the pilot lights main burner. You need a new igniter. Also do not touch any part of the hot surface igniter as human oil will shorten the life of part.

Lighting a pilot light in a 30 year old roper gas range

Lift the top lid and look for a cylinder or something similar with tubing going into it there should be a button of some sort on the side. if you are lucky the button will have a red cap on it. press the button in and light the pilot inside the oven. hold the button for a minute or so until the pilot stays on. kind of like lighting a water heater.
