Turn up your moniters sleep time check it off were o min is what you need its going to sleep on you.
Try removing internet explorer and reinstalling. If that doesn't work try using Firefox instead, that will help to figure out where the problem is (eg. if firefox works fine you know the problem is with IE) and at least you'll have a better browser, and a backup if needed.
If reinstalling IE didn't solve the problem, then you may have a virus, try using an antivirus program, such as Avast (the only one I use) and some anti spyware/malware programs, such as Adaware and Spybot:search and destroy (both preferably).
Oh and if you have any 'toolbar' addons such as google toolbar or yahoo toolbar etc, then get rid of them, they are spyware (they send info back on what you do) and will only cause problems, especially if you have a few of them.
