ACER 1916 W Monitor is streaming a bar like pattern down the srceen. The replacement cost shipped is $90.00. I have two monitors that fail the same exact way about a month apart. Is it the Main Board, Inverter Board, or a bulb. Please advice.

NO OS stated, wow, 2. (you skipped the top 2 inputs)
this driver, it is config file (the GPU chip needs driver)
that tells your unstated OS what limits the screen has
1280 x 1024 maximum resolution (this is the limit)!
all you do is go to unstated OS , safe mode and set that to that limit.
and bingo it works. (if running Linux say so )
a very old monitor, old square screen 4:5 legacy,.
most are dead this old.
if running W7 to w10 now, (unstated)
step 1 is make sure PC is web connected first. this allows the PC to find the montor config file at ms.com PnP servers. and work.
this monitor is 10 year old today, 2008 made.

It's probally the inverter board that drives the backlight in your monitor is failing causing the digital board to reset. I think Acer has a 3 yr warranty. If the monitor is less than 3 years, I would call them and ask them to repair it. They will fix it for free if it less than 3 yrs old, it will only cost to you is shipping it to TX. Hope this helps.

This model AL2017 20" Acer monitor is known for having a bad power inverter board. The capacitors go bad, which causes the backlight to completely stop working or flicker intermittently. If you feel like you are electronically and mechanically inclined the board is easily replaced. Search ebay for AL2017 Power Board -- its about 15 bucks plus shipping.

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts,replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. Theres 2 PCB on the side working one of those is faulty

you need a new power inverter, better yet a new monitor. I have the same monitor as my secondary.

when you open your pc now,do you still hear a click sounds like you hear before ,when your computer has no problem yet? now there is no sounds .do the ff..
1.try to press the numlock key and observe it ,if the indicator LED lite on and off,the problem of your computer is your video card,
2.if you can't hear anything, when you open your unit and the indicator of your monitor goes the color orange,pls..check your memory .clean the memory and the memory slots using the contact cleaner .before you replace a new memory.
3. and try to use a another monitor,maybe your monitor has the problem

see there is power in monitor and check also that your monitor is getting signal from cpu just remove the data vga data cable from cpu and see is it showing any massage on screen like check signal or any other massage. and check your keybord also by pressing num lock key see the light is on and aoff when you pressing the num lock button . if nothing is happen that mean your monitor is not getting signal from cpu and it is not monitor problem . bye
