Unless you are using a cable tv provider to receive your local channels you will definitely need a converter. Depending on the cable provider will determine if you will need one at that time.

you will require two of the STK392-120 Convergence ICs and possibly the 6.8 ohm resistors. The Phillips DPTV305 - DPTV335 convergence repair kit available from www.tvrepairworld.com has the two ICs and the 12 resistors plus the CD with repair instructions.

The specifications for this set list the power consumption at 250 watts so allow for a little extra and go with a 500 watt converter. Also, make sure the converter will change the UK's 50Hz power to the 60 Hz power required for the set. Sounds like the coolant in the CRTs need to be changed, Blue is always the first to congeal followed by green. Its actually a easier repair. I will post a link where you can get the phillips coolant replacement kit which contains the coolant required and an instructional CD with pictures of the process step by step.
