Hey,

Login to the routers home page (details under neath or behind the router). Once you login, go to wireless--> settings or wireless security page and then choose WPA2 or WPA PSK and enter the password and save the changes. After save, you will need to re-establish the connection to your laptop and you will be prompted for a password on the computer.

Cheers!!!

My Dell 2350 router was working fine and was password protected. I must have messed up the settings because now it is no longer password protected (I can tell because the padlock next to it is now gone.)...

Hey!

Looks like someone pressed the reset button on your router which caused it to go back to it's factory settings that's why you lost the password.

Click here for the user manual regarding network security setup for your Dell Wireless Router.

Hope this helps! :D

Cannot connect to the router lost the password

There are two passwords for the router: the WEP/WPA password, which lets you connect to it wirelessly; and the admin password, which lets you change the configuration. If you have lost the WEP/WPA password but know the admin password (or haven't reset it from its factory default), you can connect a temporary cable between your router and your computer, and use the Easy Install Wizard or the manual configuration steps (see manual) to change the WEP/WPA password to something you know. If you do not know the admin password, then you have to reset the router to factory defaults by pressing and holding the Reset button for at least 10 seconds, and then using the Easy Install Wizard to configure it again from scratch.

I lost the set up disc wisard for my d-link 615 What can i do to get one?

Go to this address using a web browser from a computer hooked to the router. http://www.192.168.0.1

You will be prompted for a user/password. Input the password you made when initially setting it up. You are now into the configs of the router and have no need for the setup disk.

Lost my disk for Router in the move. What can i do

The really don't need a disk - just plug it in and go. You may need the directions (default IP address) which can be found at the linksys website.

Lost setup disk for the router. Tried manual setup.

DSL's tend to have PPPoE signalling which means extra setup. Did you put your username and password in as assigned by the DSL provider?

I dont know how to set up my routers

Put the setup disk in your computer and it will step you through the process.
Typically, you will have to hook your computer directly to an internet connection (with ethernet cable), then unhook it and connect the internet cable to the router (usually in port 1), then connect an ethernet cable from the router to your computer and plug in the router.
The disk should download the appropriate software and walk you through setting up a password and stuff.
After all that, you can unhook your computer and use it wirelessly.

I recently changed my internet connection from DSL to Comcast broadband. I had the router connected previously without a problem, when I attempted to install it with the new service I got to step 8 on the...

Three options here:

The first time you connect using most cable services, you may be required to register your computer to their service, which includes entering a password they give you. That may have interfered with your first attempt by not allowing your router to connect to the internet to obtain a public IP address form the cable modem.

If it's not the cable company's fault, the user manual that came with the router will also have the default user name and password listed there. Try using that in case it has been reset somehow.

If you still cannot get past the username/password prompt, then you can simply log into the router as before, and choosing to reset the router back to factory settings. Then you will be able to set it up again from the beginning.

1.Open a browser and then go to http://192.168.1.1
2. Username admin and password is password
3. You should be able to access the router's utility page then and get the wireless settings of the router.
