Camera keeps saying change batteries - Canon PowerShot A560 Digital Camera

If batteries leaked in the camera the connections IN the camera may be dirty. Putting in a new battery takes care of the battery connection but not the camera connections. This is why it is very important to take out batteries when you are done taking photos. When you want to shoot again you put the batteries back in and set the time and date. You MAY be able to clean the connections with a pencil eraser. If you use a pencil eraser please blow out the dust from the eraser. If you are positive the camera then I cannot help you here.

I had the same problem; check carefully the yellow note from the camera box which says : use ONLY alkaline or rechargeable NI-Metal or oxyride batteries - DO NOT USE Ni-Cd nor lithium nor nickel nor manganese batteries. try that and pls let me know if it helped or if any other solution worked.

These cameras have a internal battery that holds data for the camera to keep its settings. These batteries can be replaced but the camera has to be disassimboled to change it they should be able to be changed at a local camera shop pretty cheap.

Ok.. did you guys try a reset? Just remove the batteries, wait for 60 seconds then put them back in.. that should reset the camera..

It occurred lately with reloadable NiMh-batteries.
When I put in some alkaline batteries I had no problem.
I cleaned the contact surfaces of the NiMh-batteries and the contact surfaces in the camera. Up till now I have had no problems.
