The X4270 has a pretty straightforward scan path. If you follow the instuctions on this link, you'll find that you can clean the white roller and scan lens with a lint free cloth and water. It will get rid of the mark....unless you've managed to do something ugly like run a staple through the machine (I did that on a laser and scored the drum....that sucked).
The Lexmark X4270 printer uses cartridge number 70, 71 and 75 for the Mono Ink Cartridge. For the Color Ink Cartridge it uses 19,20 and 25. You can check this link - http://bit.ly/d2bbwm if you want to purchase these cartridges. Thanks.
Here's an article in the Lexmark website to guide you on how to change/replace the ink cartridges on your Lexmark X4270 printer. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/bR8WEN. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, place a comment so I can get back to it. Thanks.
Did Quill sell you a "OEM" (Original Manufacturer's Equipment) or a cartridge a third party cartridge?
If it is a third party ink or cartridge, then that's your problem. Lexmark does not condone the use of third party ink or cartridges. This is considered to be product tampering by Lexmark and they will void the printer warranty if damage results from the use of these type cartridges.
I do apologize for the bad news, but I do ask that you do not shoot the messenger. :-)
can you clarify? This is a fairly straightforward replacement.....Lift up the face of the machine, wait for the carriage to come over and fully stop moving, remove old cartridge and replace with new.....maybe more info on what is actually happening or not.....
Are you saying the fax appears to print but is blank or it does print but is not in a fax form but freestyle with no background format. Changing a cartridge will often upset the apple cart. see if the printheads could do with a clean. Make sure you reset ink level sif your unit does not automatically do this. Try a reset too by turning unit off, unplugging all cables, replugging all and turning back on. Post back if no good.
cheers,
