I need a remote code for a hitachi tv

You can't connect a remote control to another remote control, that's not how it works. All remotes that are specific to one device, only have that one code programmed in and only work that device. The exception is cable box and satellite box remotes which can be programmed to work for the box as well as the viewing television for switching on and off, volume and channel selection.

I have the same problem. I got mine from a friend and my comcast universal remote does not work with it at all. For some reason it does not acknowlege it.
