Hello there. So my Sony Xperia x10 keeps turning itself off. Like whenever I use it, it just shuts itself off and then turns back on. It repeats that process for like 3 times, then it finally boots up correctly. It doesn't matter for how long I use it. Any solution to this problem? Thanks!

Check the battery to see if the sides are bulging in the middle. Do a spin test. Take the battery and put it on a flat surface, then spin it like a top. If it spins at all, the sides are not flat and the contacts are moving away from the contacts in the phone.

SOURCE: sony ericsson xperia x10 unlock code

Hi,

You can get the unlock code by contacting your current service provider customer care department. If your phone is locked you can use any of your friends phone to make this call. The service provider will then provide you the unlocking codes.. Remember that the reason why the codes are provided only thro customer service provider is they will make a check on your name and identity proof at the time of your call. If the information is found to be correct and matching with their data then you will be provided with the codes. Everything is done for free of cost and you are not going to be charged for this process. This is the universal solution and is useful for many customers who are facing these kind of problems. Don't believe in any websites which provides unlock codes. All are fake. Only your service provider can provide these codes.

Thank you !!

SOURCE: How to set MP3 as text message tone on Sony

If you want to set an mp3 or "Custom" tone for your "Notifications" you can dowload an app or...
Connect your X10 to your computer. Pull down the usb notification in top left of screen and mount sd card.
Then go into your phone menu via "My Computer" and either go into media/audio/notifications or create the folders yourself. Remember they must be lower case letters.
Then all you have to do is copy your tone into the "notifications" folder disconnect your phone from your pc and go into "Settings" "Sound and Display" "Notification ringtone" and it should now be in your list with the preset standard tones.

SOURCE: Sony Xperia X10 Unlock Attempt Left

No way of finding out how many times the wrong code has been entered but...

You can still unlock the phone by using
"totalgsm"
software and your data cable that you got with your handset.

You will need to pay for some credits for the software to unlock your phone and your computer needs to be connected to the internet whilst it does it.
It's worth looking around for different prices too. I looked for a c902 and found prices ranging from £25 to £7 after you work out the exchange rate from Dollars to Sterling.
$40 is the starting price see how low you can find it. :)

well...

If you dont have it, try to sing up for a gmail or google account from other computer, and when you have it your mail accout, you must type it at Xperia........

If not, you must go to a dealer shop, to fix that problem.

PHONE SHUTS DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY

To me - it sounds like a battery fault.
Symptoms of a failing battery:
* Device suddenly shuts off, even when the battery have several percent remaining.
* Device drains fast, even when not used.
* Device might just shut off for no whatsoever reason when doing something that draws a lot of power, and will restart just fine.
* Device has a surprisingly fast charge time from empty to full.

If you said yes to those, grab a new battery.
But beware:
There are many fake batteries out on the market, claiming that they have higher capacity, yet very slim in size.
There's a simple rule when it comes to battery capacity:
More capacity = larger in size, which might need a special back-cover. There's no escape from that.
If one would happen to find a such incredible slim battery with super capacity, the battery security circuits and/or chemical makeup probably have been circumvented/changed, and have a high risk of catching fire and/or explode when charging/discharging.

My phone tends to shut down on its own whenever it wishes and turns back on at random. what might be the cause, can you help?

try this hard reset method

Resetting the phone

Resetting the phone deletes all data, including downloaded applications, and resets the
phone back to its initial state, the state before you turned on the phone for the first time.
Make sure to back up important data you have on the phone before you reset the phone.
To reset the phone
1 From the Home screen, drag upwards.
2 Find and tap Settings > SD card, USB Mass Storage & phone storage > Factory
data reset > Reset phone.
3 Enter your screen unlock pattern.
4 Tap Erase everything.

There is also a RESET button on the back side of the device (under the IMEI sticker in the lower left corner) under the battery cover.

My phone keeps shutting off randomly whenever I'm talking on it or even trying to use the internet. It's always at night around 9 or 10.

Try updating the software on your phone... Directions for this can be found on the sony ericsson main website..

Sony ericsson phones usually start giving problems after some use, and replacing the software usually takes care of the problem..
