How to Unlock Your Apex TV When Screen is Locked

If you find that your Apex TV is showing a blank screen with a red key on the bottom left then the Screen Lock otherwise known as Child Lock or Parental Control has been accidentally activated and your TV will not respond to commands from the remote control.

To resolve this and reactivate the TV simply press the (function or F) button and hold down the mute button on the remote at the same time for around 10 seconds. This will unlock the screen and allow you to view the channel as desired.

If your TV asks for a 4-digit code or password please enter 3308 or 6688 to unlock the screen or to reset any preset rating levels.

This extract is taken from an Apex Manual specific to the child lock function;

The Childlock function is designed to prevent chiIdren from watching TV. To activate: HoId down the F button and then press the MUTE button until the symboI “ ” appears on the screen. The TV will enter the Childlock mode.
Except for the “ ” symbol the screen becomes blue or black . To unlock the TV hoId down the F button and then press the MUTE button again.

Please Note:
The Childlock can be set or cancelIed only by the remote controI. After setting Childlock, secure the remote control in a safe place.

If you did not press any button while in the child lock it can be remove. Try to look for your manual, it has a default code in the manual.

Childlock on tv without remote

unplug it for and hour or two and plug it back in
usually this will reset the tv's settings and the child lock will be turned off.

You may not be able to remove the child lock without the remote. (as that is the whole point of it..lol) your best bet is probably to pick up a cheap "one for all" remote and see if that will remove it.

I tried your suggestion as I have the same problem and the "one for all" does not work either. Will I need to get the same Wharfdale remote as I had before?

Unfortunately i dont know this specific tv, but with most Tv's if a "one for all" wont remove the child lock then you will need to get either a genuine replacement or a pattern remote... pattern remotes are made by different companys and look totally different from the original remote but will have all the same functions (including child lock)
