Lamp/cover button blinking red, how can I solve my Sony projector?

The blinking red lamp/cover button on your Sony projector typically indicates an issue with the lamp or the projector's internal temperature. Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
  1. Check the lamp cover: Make sure that the lamp cover is properly closed and secured. If the cover is not properly closed, the projector may not turn on or may turn off after a short time.
  2. Check the lamp: If the lamp cover is properly closed, the next step is to check the lamp itself. Remove the lamp and check it for any visible signs of damage, such as cracks or discoloration. If the lamp appears to be in good condition, try reseating it to ensure it is properly installed. If you have access to a replacement lamp, try installing it to see if the problem is resolved.
  3. Check the projector's air vents: Ensure that the projector's air vents are not blocked or obstructed, as this can cause the projector to overheat and shut down. Make sure that the projector is placed in a well-ventilated area.
  4. Reset the projector: Try resetting the projector by turning it off and unplugging it from the power source for several minutes. Then, plug it back in and try turning it on again.
  5. Consult the user manual: If none of the above steps solve the issue, consult the user manual for your Sony projector for further troubleshooting steps or contact Sony's customer support for further assistance.
If the issue persists, it may indicate a more serious internal problem with the projector that may require professional repair.

Status light is blinking red, power button orange nec vt700

Hello
Look at the number of blinks of the status light.
[1] If it blinks at one cycle (0.5seconds On and 2.5seconds OFF) : Lamp cover error or lamp housing error. Replace the lamp cover or lamp housing correctly.
[2] If it blinks 2 cycles (0.5 seconds ON and 0.5 seconds OFF): Temperature error. The projector is overheated. Move the projector to a cooler position.
[3] if it blinks at 4 cycles (0.5 seconds ON and 0.5 seconds OFF): Fan error. Fans sill not work correctly.
[4] If it bliks at 6 cycles (0.5 seconds ON and 0.5 seconds OFF): Lamp fails to light. Wait a full minute and then turn on again.
[5] If it blinks continous (Red): Lamp has reached the end of its life. Lamp replacement messege will be displayed. Replace Lamp with same type and number. After replacement reset lamp hour. OK.

NEC VT 595 wont turn on. Just red blinking light

I had this same problem with 2 NEC VT595 projectors. My problem was that there was a broken "tab" on the lamp cover (the plastic cover that slides in place over the lamp) that is supposed to depress a switch which insures the lamp cover is in place before operating the projector. The tab was broken in half and not making the connection there for causing the blinking status light (.5 sec on, 2.5 sec off) indicating a lamp housing or cover error.

Toshiba TDP SC25 projector

The manual says it might be because the power went out when it was on. Just a note here, as projectors age they become more sensitive to power outages. When not in use turn off completely if you can. They have an on/off button.

Otherwise not sure but think you may need to replace the fan. Try cleaning it first but gently.
