Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Just unplug the printer from the power source. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer. Remove the used cartridges. Load the new cartridges. Close the cover. Plug the printer back to the power source.

I am looking for a color access door for a print carriage on an hp psc2210 all in one printer. (C8654A)

  1. If you are putting in a new cartridge, make sure to remove the tape.
  2. Turn on the unit, then open the print carriage access door. The print carriage moves to the center of the unit.
  3. Fit the cartridge into the proper carriage.
    • The carriage with the gray latch is for the black ink cartridge (HP 56), or the optional photo cartridge (HP 58).
    • The carriage with the blue latch is for the tri-color cartridge (HP 57).
Slide the cartridge into the carriage at a slight angle, as shown in the illustration above. When the cartridge is fully inserted into the carriage, rock it upright.
  4. Hold the hinged flap of the latch out while lowering the latch.
  5. When the latch is fully lowered, release the hinged flap. It should catch under the tabs on the carriage, as shown in the illustration.
  6. Close the cartridge access door.
  7. The LCD display may indicate that the cartridges need to be aligned. Press Enter on the front panel. You may discard the alignment page that prints.
Remove cartridges
  1. Turn on the unit, then open the print carriage access door. The print carriage moves to the center of the unit.
  2. Press down lightly on the top of each ink cartridge latch and pull the lower section of the latch out to release the cartridge.
  3. Pull the cartridge out of the print carriage and relatch the empty print carriage. The print carriage may move to the right automatically, and if the latch is up, it could be damaged.

I don't know how to get the cartridge moved to the center so I can change it

Normally, the Cartridge ( or Carriage ) should come in center when you open the front access door.

If this does not happen, turn off the printer, Open the front access door and move the carriage manually to center to remove the cartridges, later power on the unit and you should be able to find the cartridges move to center for replacement.

Need to replace ink cartridges and the printhead

Lift the door then unplug.
Slide your fingers under the cartridge carrier and check for paper debris or other obstructions. If none are found try sliding the cartridges out gently to the middle then replug and see if this resets it. If that doesn't cure the problem unplug again and move the cartridges to the opposite side of the bar as far as it will go then replug.
Now close the lid and wait for a self check. If nothing happens you may have a broken belt.

Need instructions to replace the "carriage assembly" for ink cartridges on a HP 7400 OfficeJet All-In-One series printer.

  1. With the product turned on, open the print cartridge access door. The print carriage might try to move into the access area. If so, allow it to move to that position.
  2. Without turning off the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product. Unplug the power cord from the power source. The power cord must be unplugged to allow the parts to be moved by hand and to reset the paper feed mechanism, without the risk of an electrical shock.
  3. Looking in through either the print cartridge access door or the output paper tray, you can unsnap carriage by pry back tabs or remove screws, depending on the model.
  4. Make sure the print carriage is loose and can move freely. You can then remove the carriage.
You may have to reach through the output paper tray to access the print carriage.
  5. Close the print cartridge access door and plug the power cord back to the back of the product. Plug the power cord into the power source.
  6. Press the On button to turn on the product.

Paper jam?

Check Paper light flashes but there isn't a paper related problem The check paper light may also flash if there are other problems. Verify the following conditions:
  • Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
  • The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
    1. Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
    3. Remove both print cartridges.
    4. Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions.
    5. Close the print cartridge access door.
    6. Plug the power cord back in.
    7. After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges.
    8. Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them.
  • Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. Contact HP for assistance.
