I am trying to install a chamberlain wireless keypad opener. I have a Craftsmen door opener. In the instructions, I thought it told me to change on my car remote the DIP Switch for #1 to "-". My remote was set at "+". That is the only swithc I changed. My door opener in the garage still opnes/closes the door. I did complete the set up of the wireless opener including pushing the Smart button. Now my car remote does not work nor does my wife;s remote work. i never changed her DIP switch sequence. I have tried pushing the Smart button again and changing my DIP Switch sequence back to original setting. Still does not work. How can i get the car remotes to work again?

If you held the smart button in too long it erases the memory and none of the remotes will work. To program it press and hold the button on your remote and then press and immediately release the smart button.

Why won't my old Craftsmen keyless entry work with my new craftsmen opener? I have tried all the methods in my new directions.

The old keypad is probably not compatible with the new opener. They may operate on different frequencies. Look for the color of the "learn" button on your new opener. It may be on the back of the opener or under a light cover. Your manual should show you where to find it. In my case, my new opener has a purple button and my old one had an orange one. You'll need to find the keypad that works with your new "learn" button color.

How do i reset my keypad code on a Craftsmen 1.2 hp garage door opener?

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to the keypad and key in any 4 digit code you like and press enter.

Craftsmen garage door is not opening. It started

Your drive gear must be stripped. Remove the cover and you will most likely find lots of what looks like white sawdust and a stripped gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. The part number is 41A2817 if you want to replace it and it comes with instructions. Available at any good door opener service company.

Keypad will close door, but not open it!

Try changing the battery and reprogam the keypad. The code remains active for about 30 sec. after it is entered into the keypad which allows you to press enter to change direction of the door
