My Maytag dryer (Mode MEDC300XW1) is not starting, but runs in Wrinkle Prevent cycle.

In some dryer's the control panel relies on a thermistor rather than a CYCLING thermostat to regulate the drum's air temperature by monitoring the component's resistance changes; resistance goes down as temperature increases and up when temperature decreases. Once the drum's air temperature reaches a certain level required to dry clothes, the control panel shuts off the heater. The panel will turn the heater on again and begin another heating cycle when the thermistor indicates that more heat is needed to keep the air temperature constant inside the drum this is why in some cases the dryer will operate at lower cycles like gentle or low heat but not at higher settings?)

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.
A failed moisture sensor will affect the dryer run time in the automatic moisture sensing cycle but it will not affect the heating of the dryer or the timed cycle. Which are reflected by the thermostats.

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

CHECK THERMAL SHUT OFF THERMOSTAT USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BLOWER. for OHMS or resistance with a meter. Should show a closed circuit. Ohms WHEN THIS FUSE BLOWS IT WILL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.
Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

Lastly check ur DOOR SWITCH for continuity with a meter when the button is pushed in the (on/Door closed position,) it may have gone bad.

Fixing dryer. The start button won't "say on"the dryer turns on, but the start switch doesn't stay on, and has to be held/pushed for Speed Queen AGM479W2 the dryer to work.

well why didn't they come back and fix it?check the wires going to the motor or the switch in the motor is bad, basically you have to replace the motor.you can go here this guy really drags this video out but it can show you what's happening to your dryer.i know on ge dryers if this happens it's the belt switch that's bad and on the older whirlpool dryers it was usually a bad relay or a bad even heat board but you don't have any of these in your amana dryer,it might say speed queen but it's an amana when you look up the model number,i don't know if by shorting out the dryer it could have damaged the motor,i would call whoever worked on it and tell them it ran fine until they worked on it you never had this issue

What is the problem with my dryer?

The motor starting circuit is failing. Confirm this by giving the drum a push start when it hums. Most likely, the centrifugal switch on the motor is sticking (due to lint buildup) or broken. It has a mechanical component that operates an electrical switch. Check the mechanical operation, then check the switch. Also, check that the motor electrical connector is seated completely.

Frigidaire Gas Dryer Model FGFB9200ES0 turns on but nothing happening except a buzz sound??

Hello Seanbohan - From what you have described I recommend contacting a professional to diagnose the unit accurately. It sounds like possibly either the the belt slipped off idle pulley and/or dryer belt needs to be replace , a faulty motor, or a common failure between control and motor.

I have a MEDC400VWG drier.Woked fine yesterday. Put clothes in it today. Pushed start button. nothing happened. Smelled somthing getting hot. opened drier. Heating coils lit up. (with door open). Turned...

Sounds as if the motor centrifugal switch is stuck. Check to see if lint built up around switch or centrifugal mechanism on motor shaft. Rap switch with the handle of a screw driver hard but don't break it .

When I turn the start button nothing happens except a buzzing sound...no tumbling happens even if the dryer is empty.

Hi,
There are two causes for this...bad motor or broken belt... If you are getting a buzzing sound then I would vote for the motor...

Check out a tip that I wrtoe about this...

Dryer will not turn on although the timer is working

IF your hearig a click when you push the start button then the button and relay are good check the saftey switch on the door to see if it has come loose and follen down or moved back if the switch is not pressed the motor will not work also I have seen the switches go bad you need to unplug the dryer and cross the too wires togeather plug the dryer back in and press the start button if she starts order a new swith. The motor could also be bad you nees to remove the back cover and check to see when the button is pressed if you are getting the correct voltage you will need a volt meter to check this they cost around 10- 20 bucks if you have correct voltage from the wires and the conections to the motor are ok the motor is no good and needs to be replaced hope this helps...

It sounds like it wants to turn on when I turn the knob but then nothing happens.

It sounds like the motor is seizing up. Try holding in the door switch, pushing the start button, and giving the drum a little help when it tries to start. If this works, then you need to see what the restriction is from the drum turning. If there is no restriction, there is the possibility of a bad motor.

Wont start

try turning the drum by hand...is it jammed? if not, then: the motor will not turn due to a number of reasons: 1.) simply burned out copper windings 2.) switch not turning on motor or not turning on motor starting circuit-depending on design ...if jammed, then try to find the interference to turning
