First have the saw checked for compression. It should be between 115 lbs and 150 lbs. If the compression is good, check sparkplug, air filter and fuel settings
If this fails, have your dealer do a pressure / vacuum test.
Hey I got a serow too, in Thailand. Love the bike but lots of issues, no parts there. Runs great on cool mornings, heats up and acts likes it hits every other cycle. Thought cdi, but fires good when you make it jump to plug. New plug, no change. Carb is not original, going to start there. Think its a 92, think it only 5 gears. Original japan with strange vin. Carb and valve adjust might fix it. Any suggestion?
Hi, the carby needs to be stripped down an all jets blown out with compressed air. Also check that fuel is flowing to the carby, do this by pulling the fuel hose off the carby and cranking the engine. Regards Phil.
Hi Joe, I had asked for a little clarification and have not received any information. I will answer this question based on the generator is in good working order and it is a recoil start. Open the petcock, (this is the fuel valve) and give it about a minute to fill the fuel bowl on the carburetor. If your generator has an engine an on/off kill switch, set to on. If the generator has an auto idle switch set it to off. If the engine has a throttle lever located under the carburetor, push it all the way down (full throttle). Pull the choke knob out completely, there is a detent on the choke for half choke, pull it past this for full choke. pull the recoil starter rapidly. As soon as the engine starts running push the choke knob to half choke, this will allow the engine to run smooth while it's warming up. Depending on the climate that you are in, warm up time will vary. After a minute or two in cold climates start pushing the choke knob in, if it starts to run poorly pull it back out too the half position and let it warm up some more. When you can posh the choke in without the engine faltering it is ready to go. In warmer climates you might be able to start the engine without the choke or in the halfway position. Robin Subaru makes some of the finest small engines available. I would choose a Robin over a Honda every time. I hope this gets your generator going, and once again this is based on the generator being in good working order. Good luck, Michael Burke.
Clean or replace the fuel filter. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Check the muffler for plugging of the screen. Be sure to run with fresh fuel mix and to shake the container thoroughly each time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Hope this helps!
will it start right back up after it dies? you could use a small screwdriver and turn the idle screw in a little to raise the idle speed that should fix it.
If still under warranty have it serviced (authorized dealer not Joe's lawn mower). There should not be a fee (paid by Husqvarna). There have been carburetor problems. If you adjust it your warranty will likely be void; Joe's small engine service just as likely to void any warranty. Are you using a fresh 40:1 fuel oil mix. The will not start with choke set is normal. Start procedure in your OM says listen for sputter and disengage choke. Almost all new saws have similar start procedure. Start Procedure Cold:
Ignition on/off to on.
Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws); pull starter and listen for an attempt to start. once heard (usually two pulls; no more than 4).
Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
Push (open) choke pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).
Warm:
Ignition on/off to on.
Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release.
Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws) – Do not pull with choke closed.
Push (open) choke, pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull).

Place the saw on full choke with the switch on. Pull the rope until it fires. Place the saw on half choke, and pull again, and it will start running. Half choke should release as soon as you hit the trigger.
These flood easily and are very difficult to start once that has occurred. Start Procedure Cold:
