Hi, i was able to get to my electrolux epic series 6500 motor. i know that my bearing is broken inside the motor but i am not able to remove the metal plates around the fans. how can i do so?

There is not a replaceable motor filter inside the body of the vacuum. There is an exhaust filter under the cover on top which can be removed by pushing a little tab at the rear of the cover.

You need to have the vacuum cleaned out. If you are good with tools, just remove the motor and fans assembly, take the fans off and wash them. Brush ALL dirt out of the housing and reassemble. Your Electrolux dealer can do this but it isn't cheap. I used to be the service manager for my area. Since it isn't under warranty, you can have ANY reliable vacuum cleaner shop give a good cleanout. NEVER put anything into the cleaner to make it smell good. Electrolux cleaners get their power by having a straight through suction. The air goes through the motor. Adding smelly things can crystallize onto the motor and burn it out.
2. Check for clogs in the hose and the power nozzle inlet.
3. Disconnect hose. Turn on vacuum. Does it run? If so, place hand over intake? Did it shut off? If it did, the problem is a worn out or broken component inside the vacuum. Generally a result of using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. This is a part that needs to be replaced in an authorized Aerus (Electrolux) shop.
well, i post an answer in the wrong field, and i can't find it, so i will type one more time. slide two vinyl side pieces off, and remove top halves. remove two screws from the switch, and remove it from top halve. between switch and outside button is a plastic rocker, which is broken. you will find two broken pieces, one spring for the rocker piece, and one small plastic rod, which goes inside of the spring for support. i do not know if part is available, but you can for quick fix like me, turn the switch on by the hand, assemble unit, and plug in, and plug out from the wall. whay? i dont have electrolux store close by. john
