I contacted c/s for netgear products, I have aWGR 614 v10 wireless router, they recommended I download a driver for it. I went to www.support.netgear.com, attempted to download a deiver, and was not...

I am going to assume you were advised to download a firmware update and not a driver, as in 99% of user installations of a router drivers are not necessary. Below you will find the instruction for uploading the firmware to your router, as well as the links associated with the firmware. You need to access the router through a browser, such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc. The reason you cannot find the file association is because this is a checksum file with a chk extension and there is no program that can run this in a computer environment, as it is a language file, compiled for installation through hardware. I hope this helps explain what is going wrong and how you can correct this issue. Let me know if you require additional information on setting up your router.
  1. Download the file to a convenient place such as your desktop.

    For North America users only

    right-click-and-save-downlo.gif 1.84 MB

For users outside Americas - World wide Version

    right-click-and-save-downlo.gif 1.84 MB

    For users in Russia only

    right-click-and-save-downlo.gif 1.84 MB
Note: Do not upgrade the firmware using a wireless connection. Please perform firmware upgrade with "wired" or Ethernet connection only.

  2. Open a Web browser.
  3. Access the router (http://192.168.1.1 or the Default Gateway address if the router's default IP was changed).
  4. Log in the router (User Name = admin and Password = password, unless you changed it).
  5. Write down all settings that you entered when previously configuring. This includes information such as ISP configuration and wireless security settings.
  6. Under Maintenance, click Router Upgrade.
  7. Click Browse and locate the firmware upgrade file.
  8. Click Upload.
  9. Wait for the router to reboot.
  10. Under Maintenance, click Settings Backup, then click Erase. (Or press the reset button on the back for 10 seconds.)
  11. Wait one minute for the router to reboot.
  12. Manually enter the configuration information you wrote down in Step 5.

How do i put my my pin from my phone in the router to access a wi-fi connection

> do how I ...

You don't.

The wireless adapter inside the router should have been configured with:
* SSID -- the "name" of your personal wireless network
* the encryption-level (probably 'WPA')
* the password associated with the SSID

Enter the SSID and the password into your handheld device, to connect to the wireless network.

Why dose my internet stopworking with my netgear

1. Access the web-based utility of the router.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

2. Adjust the MTU setting.

a. Click on the WAN Setup under Advanced tab.
b. Lower down the MTU size to 1492, 1400, 1358 or 1300.
c. Click on the Apply button.

Note: You may verify from your ISP the recommended MTU size you can use.
