Proform Treadmill doesn't run constant speed.

I have a treadmill that is about 10 years old but has had low usage.
It runs but when you are on the belt it slows down then speeds back up.
When you are not on it it stays constatnt speed.
I have checked the potentiometer slide control and it measures resistance correctly.
I'm guessiing maybe its the motor but how do I know for sure?
Its a PROFROM 375 SI

You have a friction problem between your belt and deck. A treadmill of this age either came with a waxed deck, or requires periodic silicone lubricant spray on the deck. You can check your owners manual to see which type of surface your machine has. Typical belt life on a consumer grade treadmill is about 2 to 3 years. If you purchase a new belt from the manufacturer it will come pre-lubricated.

Have you tried lubricating all the bearings and bushings? Oil the bushings on the motor shaft on both end if possible. Lubricate all the bushings or bearings in the rollers under the track also. Use a light oil like 10w 30. It sounds to me like the original lubricant dried out and is causing the resistance exactly what it should reduce. Get back to me and let me know how you make out. I hope this helps you out.

I just got a brand new treadmill and set it up 3 days ago. The speed fluctuates even when I'm not standing on the belt. I set it to 3 but it jumps to 6 and then 5 and whichever random speed. I think the machine came pre-oiled. Do I have a defective treadmill? Thanks!

Proform Treadmill 785 E suddenly stops during highs speed workout

Use 2000W converter instead of 750W because you are using your treadmill on its full power on high speed. 750W converter is not capable of handling its full load resulting the machine malfunctioning. Your treadmill 785E have 2.25 CHP motor, 2.25 CHP is equal to 1677.824712W and 20-Amp minimum Ac outlet is required for your treadmill in order to function in full capacity. I have a model 297980 J8 proform treadmill. when I first start it up without the safety key in it, the treadmill runs at full speed for about 2 minuets. After that it slows down and stops. The speed is set...

You have to put the safety key in if you want to select speed/incline or predefined programs.
It starts and runs at full speed on that occasion because it's part of the maintenance process, that lubricates the inner rollers so that it will continue to work perfectly for as long as possible.

Proform 765 EKG

If I understand correct, the treadmill will not run correct unless you have the safety key in. Well yes this is correct because once the safety key is removed the treadmill will stop. If your treadmill is running extremely fast just by turning it on, you may need a new speed sensor. www.AtlantaFitnessRepair.com
