I have a canon powershot sd1100 IS and bought it on ebay back in the fall. I havent had any problems and it was in great condition. One night I went to erase some pictures before going out- the camera was fine. About an hour later, I took the camera out of my purse and when I turned it on I saw the screen was white whether I went to take a picture or view one. I can still take pictures and load them on my computer but I can't see what I'm taking because of the white. Is there a way to fix this? How much would it cost?

Try a retailer near you to see if they will allow you to test your camera with a SD card from a display camera.

Good luck, I hope this helps!

Did you accidentally press the DISP button on the back of your camera? This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Try pressing this button one more time to see if it turns the screen back on.

Depending on your OS, you can download the latest driver for your system directly from Canon here. Remember to select your OS in the dropdown tab to be able to see the available downloads.

But I'd also recommend that you take this as an opportunity to consider utilizing a much safer method of downloading your pictures and videos. Please see this link, as it describes the use of a USB card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. Note that card readers are also VERY inexpensive these days (some places less than $2 online with shipping).

Canon SD1100 won't turn on. I just bought a used one off of Ebay because I liked the model (mine was stolen) and it seemed to be working fine. However, the seller gave me a generic, no-name battery and...

That likely wouldn't fix it now. The cheap generic batteries sometimes cause this problem. Let me make a suggestion, if you go to camerasand parts.com they only charge $69 to totally service the camera up, that includes the power problem too and also the shipping back. The good thing is that since you have a power problem, they'll swap out your battery for you too if that was the problem. Just thought to mention that as a suggestion, they're amazing if you need help with a Canon Powershot Digital Camera. If things don't work out with the seller, here's a great option and maybe the seller will pitch in to have it serviced up.

I bought a canon sd1100 a year ago. It used to take great pictures. One month ago all pictures taken have been grainy. Do you know why>?

Could be that ISO settings were accidentally changed. The main annoyances with high ISO setting are the noisy (grainy as you say) images. Check the iso settings if you are shooting in modes other than automatic shooting.

Grainy LCD display

Are you in night mode? Sounds like you are in a high gain setting, like ISO 3200 or night mode.
