Whirlpool Dishwasher DU1100XTPB7: The dishwasher starting making a really loud noise as it was going through it's cycles and it did that for about 2 weeks. Now the water will not run through the washer blades. We turn on the dishwasher and water just gathers in the bottom of the washer.

The pump is most likely bad. If the dishwasher has some years on it, repairing might not be economical. Get some estimates, that will help with the decision to repair or replace.

How deep do you want to get into this?It sounds like the wash pump motor bearings that are worn. You can pull the unit out flip it over and wd40 the bearings in the motor or you can replace the bearings.Try to lube them first.

SOURCE: Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

Problem is with the main pump motor bearing. Water leaking from the face seal enters the front bearing. After some time, the bearing wears out bringing on the loud noise. The motor is easy to remove but the bearing requires some time to remove. I did not have access to a press so I ground off the bearing an replaced it with a shielded 8mmx22mm type. Grainger p/n 1L001. The part is only $9 compared to over $200 for a replacement motor. It takes some time and disassembly of the dishwasher can be difficult but take your time and be ginger with the parts. The root of the problem seems to be the impeller. It screws onto the motor shaft and seems to work loose after time. Since its tightness compresses the face seal, when it loosens water can seep. No way to lock it in place after tightening. Weak design point.

SOURCE: whirlpool dishwasher reset code

Yup, found it on another site..I had the same issue today.

Reset code: Push 1. Heat Dry 2. Normal 3. Heat Dry 4. Normal

wait about 2 minutes as the controller resets itself. You should see all the leds flash on and then wash and rinse leds stay on for about 30 seconds. A minute or so later ..presto, my machine worked again.

My machine is not the GU3200XTP, but in the same Whirlpool tall tub series (same manual) so leds may not have the same name.

SOURCE: Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.

Why is my whirlpool dishwasher making a loud noise during drain, wash and rinse cycles?

They can be complicated to re-assemble. Best solution is to video the procedure (if you have a video camera) during disassembly and make notes and diagrams to orient things properly and make sure the correct screws go back where they shoud. Takes more time, but you'll be glad you did, it will save you a lot of aggrevation in the long run.

Dishwasher makes noise during drain cycle

This really isn't a solution, but I found info on Whirlpool's site that the noise could be caused by the disposer and food or something in it. They said to use it a few cycles and see if the noise goes away, so that's what I'm doing. I always rinse dishes before going into the dishwasher, so don't really think there could be food particles etc. causing the problem, but we'll see. Not anxious to pay for a possible solution unless through a repair person. Thanks for your reply.

Whirlpool Dishwasher Model: GU2500XTPQ3 making loud whining noise

It's most likely coming from the wash motor bearings. Based upon the age of the dishwasher it might be time for a new one. Although it can be fixed by replacing the motor. It's usually easiest to change the entire sump assembly with the motor. You will have a new wash system. Part number W10782773 Dishwasher Pump Motor Part Number 8535150 Sears PartsDirect
