I have a viper remote start that came with the used i car i bought, the remote start worked great for the first few months of winter, now when i start it up, it runs for 2 seconds then dies, takes up to 6 times to start and stay running...if i start it with the key, it stays running fine, so i know its not my car being cold blooded, what is it?

Your alarm may have lost the tach signal, that was learned to it, when it was originally installed. That would cause the remote start to try starting the vehicle over and over again, until it finally stays running, because it can't read the engine speed to know it's running.
If you can find the valet push button switch in your vehicle, try this; Start your car with the key and immediately after it starts, press and hold that valet push button switch until the alarm led on the dash stays lit up or the park lights flash. Then, release the valet switch, shut the car off and try remote starting it. That is the procedure to re-learn the tach signal. Hope it works for you.

MY VIPER 4105V REMOTE START STOP STARTING THE CAR. I NOTICE THAT IT TRY TO START TWICE BUT JUST WON'T TURN OVER. EVERYTHING WORK EXCEPT THE REMOTE START. STOPPED WORKING AFTER 4 MONTHS.

I would highly recommend you have the Viper removed from your car permanently by an experienced professional or you will most likely have other problems later as a result of this item being fitted (if you ever get it working again which I doubt).

That remote can work with both a security system, and a combo unit security/starter.

Best bet is to take the vehicle and remote to your local Viper dealer and they can look the car over and tell you what was installed and help you learn how to use it.

On many of the Viper models, the symptom you are describing is because the remote battery is low. The remote can't be too far from the vehicle. If it is, the system see it as you forgot about the vehicle being remote started, and shuts it back down. A weak battery creates a weak signal and makes the unit 'think' you are far away. The Viper website has instructions on how to disable the whole system, there are many different versions, so find the box and get the model number from it, you will need that to get any further.
