Try pressing the reset switch. it should be a small pencil tip sized indentation on the front of the face. it will not be marked.

i would take back to the repair shop and tell them some one had tampered with the unit
had to reset station and push in your faceplate on radio but since they worked on car no sound from radio ... let them fix it or do what ever it takes to get you the anwsers to why it won't work to produce any sound...

My alpine cda9885 plays my subs when the tuner setting is on but nothing else, The amp turns off when I switch between the settings and doesn't turn on until on the tuner.

sounds like you have the antenna remote wire (blue) instead of the amp remote wire (blue/white stripe) turning the amp on. the antenna remote turns off when the radio is switched to cd mode.

Is there any problems with swaping out the radio for an after market radio

in any post - 2000 gm vehicle, the body body control module routes some signals through the radio., the door chimes and any warning sounds, etc. you need to buy a special adapter to retain these features, available anywhere that sells car audio.

No output when I play a CD

what kind of vehicle do you have? i am going to guess your vehicle has a stock amp that it uses to power your speakers? you will have to hook up the remote wire for the amp to the wire that powers the amp in your vehicle (the stock amp) right now it seems like you have the "power antenna" wire hooked up to the stock amp in your vehicle.

Power will not stay on

Sounds like you're not getting voltage on the accessory power lead. This is the red wire at the back of the deck, and it supplies power whenever the key is switched on. It's possible that your vehicle's radio fuse is blown.
