The solution may be as simple as buying an adapter, more info would be helpful. Are you hooking up a cable to screw-type antenna connection? This is the most basic adapter there is.

The first step to connect an antenna, is to find the input port on your HDTV. Look for the VHF/UHF input. It's usually on the side or in the back of your HDTV.
Bob, If you have an hd ready tv, and hooked up the Ant. then the next thing you should do is go to your menu and select the tv feature and then scan for channels. This should program the channels for you. Most TV setups are like this. You should have a option for cable or antenna/tv input. select Antenna. You r should be good to go once the channel scan is done.
If the antenna has a cable like cable wire--hook it direct to the cable fitting on the set.
If the antenna uses the flat type wire (called 300 ohm twin wire) use an adapter that will connect to the end and have screws for the flat wires and a cable slide on the other side to slide onto the cable fitting on the rear of the TV
