I would say try replacing the composit cable, keep it nice and the packageand if thats not it you can take it back and hten try doing a system restore also try hooking your system up on somebody elses TV. NOTE: A system restore will delete all saved game data I recommend backing up system onto a usb flash drive.

How do you use PS3 and DVD player with the Toshiba 32Dtu2 LCD TV?

The PS3 can be hooked up to the tv using either a HDMI cable or the old RCA (Yellow, Red, White) cables. If you are having problems viewing a picture or hearing sound, here is some trouble shooting you might want to try.

Connect the PS3 using both the HDMI and RCA cables. select the HDMI input on your tv. turn on the PS3. If you cant see a picture, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps (this will take about 15 seconds). This resets the PS3 to the old RCA cables. Select the RCA input on your tv. Hopefully you can see the image and hear the PS3 now. Go to the settings on the PS3 and change the display settings to output video through the HDMI. Remember, your tv can only go as high as 1080i resolution, so you wont see anything if you select the 1080p resolution.

If this didn't work, you might have a bad signal though the HDMI cable. Unplug the tv and PS3 for atleast 30 minutes, and then connect the PS3 to the tv before you turn either one on.

If this doesn't help, then you might have a HDMI cable that isn't recognized by either your PS3 or your tv. Try replacing your HDMI cable.

Hope this helps!

Why will my ps3 not workwhen conected via multi-av cable to the RCA jacks?it does work conected to a hd tv via hdmi

When you use an HDMI cable with your PS3, the system is outputting the signal in a digital format. You need to tell it to switch back to displaying in an analog format to use the RCA jacks, otherwise it won't work. To do this, turn off your PS3. Then, once it's off, press and hold down the power button on the system. After a few seconds, it will beep and reset the output signal back to analog. Just make sure only your RCA cables are plugged in when you do this. Hope this helps!

PS3 shows a blank screen when I use the RCA jacks but works well when watching DVD movies when using a HDMI cable. When using the HDMI cable the sound is distorted whe I insert a game disk

Well heres the problem when you set your ps3 to be on 1080p using a hdmi cable the rca jacks wont work. to reset it power down the console. Then hold your finger on the power button you will hear it beep twice i believe rca jacks should be working now you will have to do that everytime unless you change it with hdmi cable plugged in to where you can see.

My ps3 keeps losing sound. I don't have hdmi or anything hooked up to it, just rca jacks. It was working fine and then one day no sound! Tried resetting, did'nt work. What else can I try?

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I have not had a problem for the first year of ownership, then it all of a sudden looses sound about twice a week. I do use HDMI, an I have to reset the default system settings. Combined with the PS3 network being hacked, Sony is the last brand of electronics I will buy again!

Ps3 works on hdmi but not on rca jacks ???

Sometimes its a pain to re hook up the cords if you are stuck in HD mode and tryin to go back to Regular or Vise Versa, power off the ps3 press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. that will switch the video card back to default settings.

My ps3 won't work with rca jacks

when you use the HDMI cable the system becomes automated, it detects that the HDMI cable is in use and with your help it sets up your audio and video.

RCA or Composite cables (same thing) are basic and dont communicate, so you have to go to your system settings in the XMB (cross media bar) and look for video settings, change them back to composite, and do the same for your audio. If that is too much work for ya you can do a master reset of the system. Hook the system up using your RCA cables while the system is powered off, then turn the system on wait 30 seconds and then hold your finger on the power button until it beeps twice, this will reset the system to its original settings

Issues Displaying picture from HDMI upconversion

I've posted this other places. Hope it helps.

My HT-S6100 had a similar problem with my DVD player and some times with my Cable/DVR box. The signal wasn't getting received at the TV. So, first I changed the input jacks my DVD and Cable box are plugged into on the receiver (e.g. from HDMI 1 & HDMI 3 to HDMI 2 & HDMI 4). Second, I reprogrammed the Input Assignments to match (e.g. HDMI in 2&4). Third, I deleted any Input Assignments that weren't applicable. For instance, I'm only using HDMI connections, but there were Digital and Component Input Assignments programmed in. When I say I deleted them, I actually set them to "----" (just scroll through the options and you'll find this.) Finally, I turn on my video/audio sources (PS3 in your case) and let them load/warm up before I turn on my Onkyo receiver. It seems to be working. Good luck.

When you hooked up the HDMI did you go into display settings and change all the PS3 settings to HDMI instead of AVI? I thought my HDMI wasnt working, just a blank screen but I could hear the sound, then it hit me..... change the video and display settings to HDMI and poof, there was the pic. lol

I want to hook up external speakers to my Acer H213H for when my PS3 is hooked up to it.

What method are you using to connect to the monitor?

If you are using the HDMI -> DVI adapter it does not support sound. HDMI does, but DVI does not.

If that's the way you are set up then all you need to do is use the HDMI -> DVI adapter for your video and use the regular RCA connections for audio.

You can set the video and audio settings in the PS3 with the "Display Settings" and "Sounds Settings"

That way you just use the red and white RCA ends to connect to a speaker system, the yellow won't be in use at all.
