Although you didn't mention the brand name or model number most of the flat TV's use the common computer power cable (3-prong). Any source for computer and TV parts will be able to help you.
Mine did the same thing right before 4th of July. I was watching tv
and it just went off. At first I thought my power had gone out, but
the tv was the only thing that was off. I tried to turn it back on,
but it was dead as a doornail. :-) When I plug in the power cord the
blue light usually comes on or the fan runs, etc. I tried to plug in
the power cord and it did nothing, so I was upset thinking I had to get
another tv.
I took a gamble that it was the powercord and after searching and
searching finally found this website.
http://www.lcdpayless.com. I placed my
order on Thursday and went out of town for the 4th and I checked my
mail today (Monday) and it was there. I plugged it in, the power came
on and the tv works perfectly....plus the new cord doesn't have an
annoying fan.
The cord is pricey at $117, but it beats buying a new tv. The company
accepts returns minus a 20% restocking fee and shipping, so I figured
worse case scenario I would only be out of $40+bucks if it didn't work
and I had to send it back. So, if you plug your current power cord in
and it's not lighting up, it may be your power cord. Hope this
helps!!!
I have the same problem. I am told that I need a new power supply (adaptor) but from what I am reading on the Net, they are very rare and TV repairman told me he cannot find the part. I heard that Protron is out of business.
Replace the power supply inside the tv. I have found ther here. They are the cheepest place that has them.$60 not $100 at shop jimmy. http://www.power-on.com/lcd194-3f.html
