The green light just show that the motherboard is getting power.
The power button of the front of the case is connected to the mother board, not to the power supply, usually in the extreme lower left corner along with the with the HDD and Reset Button cords; Power button wire are labeled and usually red/black.
If all wired correctly, possible bad or stuck power button or reset button.
Hope this helps.

Will not power up. Replaced bad power supply(burned circuit board inside PSU) but still does not power up, PSU is ok. When power on button is pushed CPU fan turns for about 1/2 second but nothing else....

Sounds to me like when the power supply went out it allowed a surge to hit the mother board and you will have to replace it also .Look at the mother board and see if there is a green LED light showing if it is you are getting power to it and you have capacitors blown if not recheck you connections from the power supply and MB if they are all tight and correct then just figure on replacing the mother board

Compaq Deskpro EN 1GHz. power supply is ok. But not start with power on button. Green LED on mother board is on. How can I start this with start button (I think motherboard board problem.

Unplug it from the wall. Remove the side panel. Look for a small circular battery (similar to watch battery). Remove the battery for 30 seconds. Replace the battery, plug it back in. This should reset the bios. Green light on the board does not necessarily say good power supply as well. Very likely motherboard or power supply.

My a730n computer will not turn on. The green light flashes in the back. Local frys tested power supply and said it was working. Fans dont come on...nothing?

it could be a mother board problem or Power supply issue. Even if the power supply works it wont supply required voltage to some components. Its better you get a new power supply and test it.Still its not working it could be a mother board issue. There will be a chance for power button issue also.

I press the power button on the front and no fans run

Sounds like your power supply is not supplying 12v to the system. Check all your power connectors are seated properly on your motherboard, if so then i'm afraid you need a new power supply.

HP power up issue

hi
you will have to remove the power cable and hold the power button for 7 sec w/o power cable and then try connection the power cable and turn on

2) reset the power connector on the mother board and try it

3) remove the memory and chk if you could listen to the beep if yes the mother board and power supply is fine so try removing the pci cards if any

Try those things

Power supply light has blinking green light

If the power box is bad, The computer will not come on. if you only get a green light, you would need to start with replaceing the power box, if you get a new one and the same thing happens, then the mother board is bad too.

Emachines problem... PSU works but comp doesnt turn on

Hi, Did you just add the second CD? If you did you may need the driver for the mother board? Make sure the power cord for the cd has voltage plug it into the DVD drive also check the cable make sure red stripe is on the correct side of drive. You can download the driver at http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T2672 User guide is there as well. The start button has a pair of wires with a small pin connector on it. This will connect to the motherboard if there is a 3 pin set you might try moving to the other pin. The new power supply also has to provide a start voltage? Your power supply may not be compatible or it may put the voltage on the third pin.

New Problem

The manual you need will be on the board manufacturers web page, howevr I will bet you have the case power switch and perhaps the reset switch on the wrong pins on the mother board. To check this, remove the switch leads from the mother board, then use a small screw driver and bridge the pins on the mother board a pair at a time. All of these leads plug on to the board in a line and not across the two lines of pins. when you get the mother board to fire up by this method geet a torch and look closely alongside the pins you will see the letters PWR SW or RS SW. It does not matter what polarity these two sets of leads are plugged onto both will work. The LED lights on the case front will only work if the polarity is correct but it will not do any harm if they are backwords. On the board you should se two sets of pins marked HDD and PWR these are the led light pins you will know you have them right when the usual red and green lights are working at the front of your tower.
