First off my DDD 512 MB MP3 player no longer has a working screen. something happened to it and i don't know what it was. second i can't put any songs on it on my friend's computer; the computer says that the MP3 Player has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced.

Have you let it get wet?.... if not, let it die and try again.... there is a hole next to the headphone plug in, it's a reset.... if it don't work, then have it fixed.... i have had mine since 2006 and had no issues.

Try this:
  1. Take the battery out of the player.
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause button.
  3. While holding the Play/Pause button, plug it into the computer.
  4. Continue holding the Play/Pause button for ten seconds, until Windows brings up the "Found New Hardware" dialog (Player Recovery Device).
  5. Allow Windows to install the driver, then attempt to reload the firmware.
Be particularly sure that the firmware you are trying to load is the correct firmware for your particular device.
