Freezer wont go into defrost automatically but will manually when i push the defrost button also does the unit come out of defrost befor the compressor starts because my compressor started but unit was still in defrost i had to hold defrost button again to get it to come out of defrost.

Download its manual here and then read through the defrost section. It should run every 12-24 hours.

is your freezer one you have to defrost manually or it is a automatic defrost style, if it's manual defrost ,the frost i suspect has built up and pushing the door out ,by defrosting it their will be clearance between door and shelf. If it is auto defrost either one or both door hinges should be replaced

The freezer fan should be on anytime the compressor is on. If there is an ice block built up on the evaporator coils it can lock the fan blade in place via the ice build up. Additionally... if the fan motor bearings are dry or coated with sludge this too can prevent the fan motor from operating. To check the can motor all that is required is a simple continuity check across the 2 connector wires. You should read under 480 ohms.

If you discover that the fan blades are encased in ice... do a manual defrost: (be ready to tend to a water mess)
1. By first unplugging the unit and then removing the freezer contents.
2. Direct an external fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours.

After the 2 hour manual defrost period plug in the unit and test to see if the fan motor is running.
If it is running you may have an automatic defrost problem causing the ice build up. On a freezer the ice build up will start again if there is an automatic defrost problem in 3 - 5 days. Until the automatic defrost problem is corrected you will end up doing the manual defrost routine described above everytime you have improper cooling problems.

Components that can cause the automatic defrosting problems are

2. The defrost bi-metal thermostat item 9 above link (stuck closed)

And of course internal wiring....

Check the fan motor for continuity... if you attempt to lubricate it which is very difficult on this fan motor make sure you use paraffin based "Turbine oil" and not a regular household or automotive oil. Using any other oil will cause the fan to stop working in as little as 30 days.

without getting all technical, look for the condenser coil and be sure it is clean. Some are under the refrigerator and can be accessed by removing a "kick plate." Some are under and in the back and can be accessed by removing a cover with a few screws. Some units have a small fan that moves air over the condenser coil. Look for it and see if it is running. And then there are some that have coils that run up the rear of the unit and when it is pushed back against the wall, the air can not circulate and can cause this issue. This is the simple first step to do before getting a service tech involved.

You have a problem with the ADC.

Frigidaire has also jumped into the market with an adaptive defrost board. The fresh food section light switch and light bulb must work. To initiate a defrost cycle, open the door and push the light switch in and out 5 times within 6 seconds. The compressor and fans should shut off and the defrost heater should come on. Open the door and push the light switch in and out 5 times within 6 seconds to remove the refrigerator from the defrost mode and back into a cooling mode.

This product comes equipped with an Adaptive Defrost Control (ADC). To activate manual defrost, press and hold the Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. A "d" in the freezer temperature window and "F" in the refrigerator temperature window will display when the heater is activated. To deactivate manual defrost, press and hold Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. "d" and "F" will be displayed until the defrost cycle is complete. (approx. 8 minutes)

You may test the defrost timer that appears to be behind the kick plate at base and front bottom of refrigerator by removing the kick plate first and using a flathead screwdriver turn slowly clockwise until compressor stops. After a few minutes you should be able to hear a crackling noise or sizzle by opening the door and listening. Leave the timer like that for up to 35 minutes and if the freezer does not start on its own the the timer is not working properly and will need replaced. This freezer has a manual defrost control on it, comes this way. Also has defrost drain hose in the front with a wrap around evaporator and condenser coil. A unit should only defrost for about 45 minutes to remove any build up, 4 days indicates it is stuck in defrost. It doesn't show the cross over temp to F from C on my chart at 0.2 degrees. You should have a defrost control that you are able to put into defrost your self. Look around the back or anywhere there may be a removable panel or it should show you where to put this box into defrost since it is manual and not automatic.Give it a turn in the direction and watch to see what happens. It may go into defrost again and come back out on its own and freeze properly. If it continues to stay in defrost, you will need to replace this timer. Take all of the info and pick one up at a appliance parts house that will stock it. Draw you a diagram so you dont forget how you removed it and that will make it much easier to install. I will also send you a link about this freezer next. It will be coming to you after you get this. Keep me posted.

Check for excessive frost build up in the freezer on the back panel. This would indicate that you have a defrost problem. One of 3 things cause a ref not to defrost. Defrost timer may not be advancing to the defrost position on the timer...The defrost thermostat, located on the evaporator in the freezer, measures open (bad)...or you have a bad defrost heater. If you have an electronic defrost control,which is used on most Maytag, Jenair, or Amana units, this could be your problem. If you turn the unit off for 24 hours to let it defrost manually then it will last for about 2 weeks before freeze up again.
