I have a JVC GZ-MG465BU Everio Camcorder. I turned on my camera and received the error message Video management file is broken to record/playback. I clicked ok to recover. It looked as though the files were recovered because the recording clock was where it was the last time I used the camera (around 8 hours). When I recorded a brief 2 minute video, the clock was back to around the original time (around 14 hrs). The only video now on the camera is the 2 minute spot. How can I get these videos back? Do I need to send to JVC?

Hi,

This is a common problem.Try connecting the old camcorder to your computer via firewire and turn it on. Look in the 'My Computer' file for the camcorder as an external storage device. If it shows up there you can simply copy the files to a temporary directory on your computer and view them with Windows Media Player. If the problem does not resolve, you need to send the unit to JVC repair center. Apparently, repair requires reformatting the hard drive which means they will have to attempt recovering all the files currently on the hard drive.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

JVC G-z-mg365bu video management file is broken to record/playback video. recovery is required recovery

For broken files, everio will prompt you to recover once switched on. If you mean deleted by accident, you can use file recovery software like Final Data Enterprise and a lot more. Mostly can be recovered, sometimes 80% or 90% of your total recording. Good Luck

Playback on PC has no sound

Are you playing the video back through the camcorders utility ? Sometimes by clicking on the file through windows explorer you will get the picture but no sound, this happens for the Sony camcorder but is fixed by running the playback through the motion picture browser application supplied with the camcorder.

Lost files with camcorder everio gz-hd7

From my experience with Hard Drive based Camcorders.. you're best bet is to treat them like a computer.. use an application like Data Rescue II to recover the files from the camcorder.. once the files are recovered, reformat the HD on teh camcorder and you should be abel to start recording new footage again.

Deleting unwanted files with a JVC Everio MG130 Camera

Answer:what you do is you press the play/record button on the left side of the camcorder when it is open to get to the videos. then you use the laser touch operation to scroll to the video you want to delete. then, right under the screen there should be 5 buttons. the one to the left of the menu button has a picture of a garbage can looking thing above it. just press that and then press yes when it asks you if your sure.

Video management problem

sounds like you need to "recover" the hard drive.

Only other option you can try is to reset the camera.

Broken video management file/ recording failure

Although the instructions don’t make it clear, it seems to be important that the camera is turned off before you connect or disconnect the USB cable. The instructions do mention that you should not delete or rename files on the camera except in the EXT_MOV folder. The camera’s firmware is apparently quite fragile about file names and the presence of the extra hidden folders that both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems create when you delete something.
