It is the problem with flat cable of display,if you have really
good service,near(for Panasonic equipment),they can solve the problem,because the flat cable is glued to the main board,and the contact which is made by that special glue is lost.Only serious experts can fix this problem.Otherwise,it is cheaper to by new phone.
I am having the same problem with my KX-TGA234W. One day the screen just went blank, so I changed the battery, but it still is blank. I hope that someone can help both of us.
My 1740 handset volume was also low. As a shot in the dark I changed the speaker and it fixed the problem. I got a new speaker from www.panasonic.com .
