My Maytag Gemini oven is displaying an F9-2 error code...I believe this has to do with the upper oven door lock mechanism...anything I can do, or does this require a service call?

F9-2 error code indicates:

  1. Door latch motor failure/jammed. Latch motor switch failure.
  2. Oven control software failure, or component failure(stuck relay).
  3. Wiring problem.
  • Press the clear key.
  • If the Clear key does not eliminate the problem, turn off the power to the range for 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
  • It is most likely to have a failed or misaligned door lock switch.

What is Error message F9-5, bottom oven door is locked

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Error F9-5 in your Maytage Gemini means Latch unlock lower and is displayed due to obstruction in door lock mechanism. If after cleaning the door lock mechanism the problem is still there then replacing the door lock mechanism is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Power went out, now ovens are 'locked' - how to unlock?

I DO know the lower oven door can be released by lifting gently up and to the right, and a little 'joggling' will allow the door to be opened. It seems the lock latch swings to the (almost) locked position unpredictably and intermittently. I hate this @#$% stove. So does my wife.
The upper oven door has never seized. Upper oven has burned through several elements, and it's dangerous to replace. NEVER TRY ANYTHING WHEN CIRCUITS ARE STILL LIVE.
I hate thjis stove. I REALLY DO HATE IT.

Getting error code 9-6 on MER6770AAW maytag gemini double oven range...what and how to fix?

That code is for obstruction in the lower door lock mechanism. You need to check for a obstruction in the lower door lock. The next step would be to disconnect the power for a few minutes then turn it back on and see if the code reappears.

Range displays error code f9-5

HI. This indicates that there are serious issues that concern the operational value of the main control abord(ERC/Clock).

This will require you to replace the ERC, asap.

Since we bought our Maytag Gemini 9 years ago, every time I use the oven cleaning function, I get an f9-4 error and cannot clean my oven. Is there anything I can do to bypass this? Its just too expensive...

Oven Cleaner can be used instead of letting the ovens "Self Clean". This error report you are getting could be a couple of things, 1 the oven latching mechanism may have gone on the blink (this is the part that locks the door during the cleaning process to prevent any opening of the door during cleaning) 2 it could be that the oven will not reach the self cleaning temp. any longer (this temp is much higher than the hi broil) Good Luck

Bottom oven lock will not lock to clean my Gemini model MER6770

The lower oven may have a problem . It could be a few different things the door latch mechanism, oven door switch, the metal rod that pulls the latch over all are quite difficult to figure out. I would recommend calling an authorized servicer on this one. good luck

F9-4 when cleaning upper oven

its related to the self clean ltach motr, if you pull hte unit out and drop teh rear panel, approx halh way down on theright side( when behind unit) thers asmall lock mechinisn mavbe 1.5 round, with a connecting rod 2 wires and a witch, well that motor sometimes as it heats looses connection with the switch. the switch is monitoring door positoin so if it loses contact it thinks the door is open and will trigger a code. the entire latch is replacabel (FRont to back comesa sone assy latch motor swittch and rod. 2 wires connect it and 2 screws(by front latch secure it. if youtry to replaceit your self i giveyou the heads up to lie a yard stick on top of latch before removing old latch (thos will keep the insulation in place) andthen when installe ing new latch also use hte ayrd stick ontop to keep insulation inplace!!!!!
