Canon Rebel XT EOS won't erase pics

I hope you have solved this problem if not there is two things that have happened to me one was that I had unlocked the lens and it turned a little which shut off the communications between the camera ad lens. The other is where the gold contacts between the camera and lens became slightly dirty with a hazy this is easily fixed with a DIY. using a pencil eraser gently polish the contacts between the camera and lens both sets of contacts, be careful not to get dirt into the camera or lens when you are doing this. Don't use a puffer or any air.

No. Have you tried using a separate card reader to download your pics? Take the card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak Kiosk and insert your card...the pics may show up.

Is your card old or very full of pictures? Is your card "cheap" and slow? Download your pics to your computer and then format the card in the camera to completely erase and optimize it...see if that helps.

Go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions.

Try using a small pencil eraser or a fiberglass brush on the battery contacts. Do this on just the battery, not the camera contacts. Do very little and try it in the camera again. If it doesn't improve, try a new battery.

I'm pretty sure I heard of those buttons going bad when I was researching used cameras...might have to get it repaired unfortunately...

Saw a few ads on craigslist etc. where person said "camera takes pics fine but menu button stopped working recently". Maybe there's a recall?

Canon EOS Rebel XT / 350D does not offer Liveview shooting option which newer cameras offer. It does not have contrast based auto focus system like the ones you see on point and shoot cameras either. LCD is used to review pictures taken or navigate through the menu system. Besides, LCD on the back of the camera is so small and lack the details anyway. You are better off using the small viewfinder it offers.
