Your backlight in your LCD has burned out and will need to be replaced. I'm sure it requires you to reinstall the phones firmware. Go to the following link to download the firmware:

if you have a computer charger for your blackberry just use the charging cables.

re install the os!

2. Under the heading "downloads" select "service packs"
3. Select "Blackberry Desktop Software 4.1" in the pulldown menu
4. Choose service pack 1 (English) or service pack 1 (multilingual) if required
5. Now download this to your pc and run the installation
Now you need to download the firmware upgrade to support your handset.
Select your network from the list below to be taken to their firmware page then choose the newest firmware version for your model :

6. Start the Blacberry desktop manager and plug in your blackberry.
7. Desktop manager will prompt you that there is a new version
8. Proceed with the install
9. Make sure you select the backup option
10. Once your upgrade is complete, your Blackberry will take around 5 minutes to reboot.
11. Now you can proceed to unlock your phone

reflash it with bb desktop manager and latest firmware found in the support or from here http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/1871-blackberryos-4-x-download-faq-upgrade-downloads.html

the unit may have a bad battery, try another battery.

if it still reboots. upgrade the blackberry's software to the latest version for your device. the provider's website will have a link to get the latest software for your blackberry

Here is the procedure to completely clear the device , You will have to reactivate the device on the network after doing this

1.In the handheld options, click Security.
2.Click the trackwheel.
3.Click Wipe Handheld.
4.Click Continue.
5.Type blackberry.

You are paying for email service to the blackberry right?

I had just regular phone service through my 7290 and when I upgraded to the email service the icons showed up to configure mail to my blackberry.
