Just installed Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 from the original disc. When I try to run it, I get the following error Micrografx Picture Publisher Digital Camera Edition has stopped working It says Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I'm running Windows 7 Home Edition. Any ideas? Thanks!

since its not directly I recommend to run it in compatibility mode of windows xp or older and with admin privilages

Make sure that Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 pro installs into the X66 Program files folder.By default it will always install into the 64 bit program file if you have a 64bit installed.
If you have the 32 bit Windows 7 installed then right click with your mouse on the program before opening it up and select compatibility mode.Select XP SP3 compatibility mode.This works fine on my Windows 7 32bit. Use the first paragraph method if you have the 64bit Windows 7.

Several solutions for you
first check cables.if theyare connected,try to install the driver.in device manager scan it again & let to plug & play to find it.then restart the pc (If you have it connected to a pc)
2. Try shutting down both the system and publisher 3 Restart the PC first before the pub. 4. Once you connect the pub. allow it to be detected by the system 5. If your given any errors, please list them out 6. If no errors occur, try to burn another disk 7. If the disk stops half way, let me know 8. If it is a success, then problem solved.

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. just move the mouse over the picture in the corner and hold down left mouse button and drag the corner inwards and picture will resize.

Hello, I had the same problem. windows draw has been working for years under Windows XP then suddenly impossible. I think there is a conflict with others programs i installed.
I found THE solution after reading many topics on the net :
Install acrobat reader 4 on your system. Then run acrobat reader 4. Last, run Micrografx windows draw 6 while acrobat reader 4 is running on your system too.
Maybe it works with a more recent version of acrobat reader but i didn't try. Maybe this solution works also with windows draw 5 but i didn't try.

I solved it!
The software installs OK.
After installation, reboot.
When you need to open the program, right-click on the Micrografx icon and select Run as Administrator. A yellow window pops up saying "An unidentified program want access to your computer," with pp80.exe as "Unidentified program" - that is actually Micrografx Pictures. Click "Allow." The program runs normally. The only caviat is that you will have to perform this routine every time you have to run Micrografx Pictures. But again, it takes 5 seconds to do it, and I love the program, having used it for over 10 years. Photoshop is far more advanced but it takes time to master it, and I do with Micrografx the same quality work as many with Photoshop.
Of course, Janet, you and I have to come to grips with the fact that Micrografx is pretty much dead, and Photoshop is alive and blooming. Maybe this Vista incident is a sign for us to learn Photoshop?
