When you click the cameras picture button most software these days will automatically save it to it's save folder, usually located in your documents.

I can not get the web cam to work

Instructions1 Take pictures independent of communications software on the Windows version of the netbook by using the webcam without connecting to networking software. Click the "Windows Start" menu and click "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" in the Programs list. The webcam application should open and the camera should produce an initial warmup image. Use the buttons on the control panel to adjust image size or take photos.
2 Use the Instant Messenger program on the Acer Linux-based laptop or netbook to work the webcam. The Acer Instant Messenger program is available in the Connect folder on the Acer laptop's desktop screen.
3 To send and receive live video and pictures using your webcam on an Acer laptop, work the webcam through individual communications software, including Skype, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, or Google Video Chat. Open your selected communications software program and click the webcam button to work your webcam.

Saving webcam pictures

Instead of double-clicking on the image, right-click on it, choose Open With and the choose Choose Default Program. From there, you can tell the computer what you want it opened in in the future.

I have an acer aspire one laptop. The built in webcam is broken?

Sounds like a problem with the camera unless you made some software changes to your laptop.

Try another program to try your camera out with, if its still not working and your getting the same results then its a hardware problem with the camera. If the camera works with another program then its something in the settings of the original program that probably need to be changed.

Quick suggestion, try using yahoo messenger since that has a camera program built into it and see what the picture looks like from there and if its the same then you know its the camera. If the picture looks good then you still know its the original camera.

Webcam and how it works

Start the software which came with the webcam/laptop. There should be an option there to take a still/picture. This can then be saved and sent to your friend.

Acer crystal eye webcam

After weeks of trying to install my Acer Crystal Eye Camera on an Acer Aspire 6920 with a fresh vista install, I have finally solved this problem.

The error I was getting when trying to install the drivers:

"Could not install device. The required section was not found in the INF."

The problem is a missing registry key for Imaging Devices.
Here's how to fix it:

1. Start Menu > regedit.exe
2. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. Expand SYSTEM
4. Expand CurrentControlSet
5. Expand Control
6. Expand Class (and keep it highlighted/selected) 7. Edit > New > Key
8. Rename the key to: {6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}
9. Open the key, in the right hand side double click (Default)
10. Rename the Value Data to: Imaging Devices 11. Reinstall device drivers and you're done!

Acer's built in webcam

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.

If that does not work then do this:

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
