The F51 error code indicates that the control is not sensing proper motor movement through the signals from the RPS (rotor position sensor) circuit.
This can be caused by several different problems.
Make sure that you are not overloading the washer. Overloading can cause this problem.
A toy or foreign object could be under the washer that is interfering with motor rotation.

With the washer empty, spin the basket inside the washer tub to see if it spins relatively easily.
If not, you could an item caught between the spin basket and the tub.

You could have a wire harness problem causing signals to not be transmitted properly between the RPS and the machine control board.

A failed RPS sensor or a failed control board could also cause this problem.

Whirlpool cabrio top load, has flashing dial and 51? also an F??

The F51 error is a RPS (rotary position sensor) board failure where the control board looses contact with the RPS during the machines operation. The RPS uses hall effect sensors to determine the speed and direction of the drive motor, allowing the control board to constantly monitor the motors operation. Because this error is a communication error and not a mechanical error with the motor itself (that would be and F52 error) we can limit our trouble shooting to the three items that make up the RPS circuit, the control board, the wiring harness, and the RPS itself.

Cabrio wtw6600sw2 f50 code.It spins freely.What now?

Any time you get a F-50 code on one of these, Whirlpool recomends you replace the control, wire harness, and RPS sensor if the tub bearing main shaft aren't binding.

What's the error code f 51 is that the main control board

Hello, the reason could be well due to an intermittent connection at the Rotor Position Sensor,(RPS).
To correct this, remove and reinstall the connector at the RPS at least three times to clean off any corrosion built up on the connector and RPS due to the intermittent connection. Confirm that the connector is fully seated onto the RPS control upon final connection and verify there are no damaged wires.Replace the electronic control. The upgraded control is less sensitive to intermittent RPS conection
Thanks

Cabrio whirlpool washer

you could clean the rps sensor with rubbing alcohol. tip machine back, remove the rotor with al allen wrench. remove the (4) 5/16" bolts holding the stator on, carefully unclip the rps sensor. (Rotor Position Sensor). Remove the wire clip and clean the contacts. Reassemble and give it a try. Or have your dealer ( unless its sears as they WILL NOT help you, call yourself, 800-253-1301) and see if they will give you a one time goodwill gesture to their customer and cover it under warranty. If cleaning doesn't help you need the control board, wire harness, and rps sensor replaced. the rps sensor should come with the new harness. Whirlpool may cover parts????? hope this helps
