RE: whirlpool refrigerator side by side ED25RFXFW01. I accidentally severed the water line inside the freezer door. How do I get to it? It appears that the shelves and insulation are glued to the door, rather than screwed on. This looks like a nightmare.

May be frozen inside door or water valve is bad.

Sadly, you will need to replace the entire 'flapper' assembly for this machine to fix this problem. This is the part in question. 8201649 for Whirlpool side by side. However, I would suggest if you can find the entire control panel assembly (which would be MUCH easier and have less chance to break things) to do that instead.

However, clearing the shoot wont do a thing for this issue at all.

There is a good chance that the clear shield has come out of its mount and is jamming the mechanism. Check to see if this is thae case. It is a bit tricky to get it back in but you should see a tab on the back side of the shield and it clips into a slot on the actuator arm.

It sounds like you investigated already. If I read this right, you can take off the kick plate and disconnect the fitting coming from the fridge going to the dispenser in the door. right?

And if you hit the button while it is disconnected and water comes out then the line is frozen in the door. Check your freezer temp to make sure it isn't too cold and defrost the unit.. If it doesn't happen again then you are ok but if it happens again then you are either having a temp issue getting too cold in the freezer or there is a void in the door letting the line freeze. That would mean you need a door

I payed a repair guy $75 to use MY BLOWDRYER to "thaw" the frozen water line INSIDE the freezer door (below the water dispenser).

He said anytime the frozen food extends over the freezer shelf and touches the freezer door for a long enough period of time, the water line inside the door FREEZES!!

PREVENTION: "Keep some airspace between the door and frozen food."

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn't take much to eventually block the fill tube.
The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

Defrost the fridge freezer fully and start again.
The line is not easily removed.

Just turn the refrigerator off inside on control panel. Then get a hair dryer and melt the ice away from the tube taking care not to get plastic too hot. Sea Breeze

If you have ice and water in the freezer door it would appear that the water line going to the water dispensor has a leak. First check where the door hindges at the bottom as this is where the line runs from the water container located in the fresh food compartment to the water dispensor in the freezer door.
