I just purchsed. a 2088ccOHV Horizontal Shaft snowblower. I'm a bit lost with the starting instructions. I noticed that it has an electric start outlet and chord, but it also has a recoil starter handle. Do I need to go through the electric start process first, then pull the electric coil handle or do I use either or.

Use either starter. The pull start is for when the engine stalls on the job, and you are not near an electrical outlet. Good luck!

Craftsman snowblower Electric start working but engine doesn't turn over at all

Sounds like the starter "bendix gear" has stripped. It's the (usually plastic) gear on the end of the starter shaft, which engages with teeth on the flywheel when you start the engine.

Check your compression tecumseh's are known for the exhaust valve seat poping out of the head. If you have compression check the governor shaft it should only turn about a 1/4 turn.

Snowblower wow's

tecumseh snow engines are natorious for not starting, first thing you need to do is take the old gas from the tank.gas only stays good for about 30 days.YEP .....that's all.there should be two screws that holds the cover over the carb.take the bowl off and there should be water and dirt in the bowl.clean that out,be careful not to drop the needle off the float.if you do it take a little patence to put it back on.now the nut you took off the bowl has three holes in the side of it.clean all the holes, one is really small and it's up twards the theads..replace the bowl gasket and reassemble the carb.now you should have fuel to the cylinder and it should start.if not let me know

Toro 724 snowblower won't start

One of two things will cause this. Either your piston rings have fried and your piston is stuck. The bearing on the flywheel is bad. Or actually one of thing, the crank shaft has broken. You willl need to take the motor apart all the way and see what is going on. If you take the flywheel off try to turn it by hand and see if you can turn it that wy. You also can try easier to check for first symptom is to make sure you are not in vapor lock. Remove the spark plug, turn unit upside down and see if you can get the motor to turn, if you can then replace the spark plug and it will start up. You can getvapor lock by running it low on fuel or the wrong fuel or running it to rich
