I have a Whirlpool GD5SHAXLQ02 side by side refrigerator which is 7 1/2 years old. I replaced a kitchen faucet and in doing so, needed to shut off the water supply to the refrigerator. When turning the water back on to the unit, the ice maker suddenly stopped working. It wouldn't fill with water. First, I checked for a frozen inlet tube in the freezer which seemed fine. Next, I tested the continuity on both sides of the inlet valve. I've never used a multimeter before and am not sure if I used it properly. The water dispenser feed read 329 ohms and the ice maker side read 167. This opted me to think the problem was with the water inlet valve. I ordered one online, and replaced it. The ice maker still does not work! Any ideas? Help!!!

I wonder if there is a blockage or an air lock in the water feed. Can you disconnect the feed and get someone to blow down the end of the tube connected to the fridge as you press the switch? While disconnected also make sure that there is a flowing supply out of the feed pipe At least you'll have some fun and you might get nearer finding the fault! Isnt it obvious whether the inlet valve is opening, surely you can hear it working?
let us know how you get on

Hot water wont stop running on hot water side

If the hot water side of the kitchen faucet will not shut off valve under the sink, dirt,rust,and/or scale could have been forced into the faucet along with the possibility of flux and some old rubber washer from the old valve. You will need to take the kitchen sink faucet apart and most likely only need to clean it out, looking for any little black, brown, or white pieces to remove. If cleaning does not work because you cannot get into an area of the cartridge, you will need to replace the carteidge and or rubber seals. Make sure to clean out the aerator on the end of the spout when completed also.

Whirlpool Gold GD5SHAXLQ02- Serial number SP3131657 just stopped cooling. Neither the fridge and freezer seems to be cooling. This unitl is about 7 years old.

Hi!!

Check
temp. control knobs,
Small fan in freezer
Remove freezer back panel (where the little fan is) and check for iced evaporator coil, if so, unplug unit and use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt ice, make sure the air duct going to the fridge is clear. Once this is done, restart unit.

If evaporator is not covered w/ice, then you may have a freon leak, Call a Service Center to get a repair estimate.

My Moen kitchen faucet stopped working suddenly in that only a thin stream of water would flow at most when I turned on the hot water handle or the cold water handle to the maximum positions. I replaced...

wow... I wish you hadn't gone thru the expense of replacing the faucet... it's perfectly good... your problem was the aerator, it unscrews at the tip of the water spout and had collected too much sediment which eventually blocked water flow. Often happens quickly after your water is shut off at the main valve. Aerators cost about 50 cents...

Question you should ask is why are all are appliances catching fire could it be an electrical problem within the home?I would have an electrician come over and check to see if your home is still at 120 volts.

Yes, the diverter assembly is probably corroded or clogged shut. Garunteed its the problem on a 10 year old delta kitchn faucet. The diverter routes water from the spout to the sprayer when the sprayer is triggered.

Whirlpool refrigerator stop cold but frosting bad

Hello Catherine Fu,
Welcome

You said, you got this whirlpool double door refrigerator for 4 years. cost me about 1.5k. the second year, right after warranty, the main brain is down-the light panel in the refrigerator is off. whirlpool tech told me to replace it will cost me 500, so you decide not to do it. Now you have bad frosting issue for 6 month. Inside the Refrigerator, the water keep on dripping on side wall and glass drawer ceiling. In the freezer, frosting all over each drawer, and the bottom drawer has too many frosting and ice that i can hardly close the door. Last night, the refrigerator section just don't get cold anymore, it shuts up by itself.
Help!! It is an very expensive refrigerator and ONLY 4 years old .

First,I think you need to have a new tech.
It sounds like you have either an air leak allowing out side air in and this causes the icing.
Or you may need some freon (coolant gas) .
If your freon pressure is low it can ice up.
Did that tech that was there check for a freon leak and also check the pressure of the freon in the lines???
You need to call a different tech and let him see what's happening.
Some company that is reliable!

Let me know what they do for you.
God bless, Huuum
